To me this is preferable to the impenetrable Wall just falling down all of a sudden like all the magic just wore off.
I figured once a dragon dies so does some of the magic keeping them out or something. I could buy into that. With the weapons Cersi has I thought maybe that would be what let them in.
The magic in the Wall far predates dragons coming to Westeros.
So a few things. These are mostly my guesses but I'll put them in spoilers.
Also, did anyone else notice the way Arya was eating when she was talking to Hot Pie? Sure had a lot of the mannerisms of the Hound. Wanting ale, gobbling down food, hunched over. I can see where she may have picked up a lot from him. I wonder if that was purposeful?
In this last episode it seems like a throw away scene with Sam in the Citadel library getting books stacked up to his chin. But rewatch that scene with the thought that there is a fan theory that all these books are written by Sam in the future and we are just reading them now. The teacher (who was one of the Hogwarts professors) is talking about writing history books. You have to do the research but you have to have a bit of flair. Then Sam doesn't like the title. Sam wants something a bit more poetic. Something like 'Game of Thrones', maybe?

Also, did anyone else notice the way Arya was eating when she was talking to Hot Pie? Sure had a lot of the mannerisms of the Hound. Wanting ale, gobbling down food, hunched over. I can see where she may have picked up a lot from him. I wonder if that was purposeful?
The Hounds vision include an army of undead marching down a mountain at a castle toward the end of the wall. Something like that.
I noticed exactly that and mentioned it to my gf. All that as the Hound starts transforming into Mr Nice-Guy.
That ending would also be very much like Tolkien which makes sense for Martin.
Good point on Arya's similarities to the Hound. I didn't pick up on it while watching. I did notice those things but didn't put it together with the Hound.
As to the part in the spoiler. Interesting. Not sure if it will come to fruition, but it is interesting to think about.
I think Tyrions plan just went to ****. I think the Dorne story is all but done, and possibly Highgarden's. I think the plan to use Westerose forces to take KL, and Dani''s forces to take CR is toast. Lady Olena had already put the thought into Dani's head anyway that it was an over thought plan and she just needs to hulk smash.
The players are dropping to the wayside and the plot is quickly simplifying. Cercie is the only thing that matters in KL. Dorne is out. Highgarden is mostly out. Baratheons, Freys, Boltons, Tully's... out. Wildlings, the North, and the Nights Watch have sort of become one team.
We are down to Team Cercie, Team North, Team Danni, and Team Cold Dead Things. Free agents looking for a team are: Arya, The Brotherhood, and Euron and we know where they are all headed.

Basically, IMHO it's likely something she picked up at her time at assassin school. She doesn't want to give off any vibe of being of a royal family or background so as not to give herself away.
Imitating the Hound would be a sure-fire way to avoid suspicion of being anything other than a low-bred character.

Don't you think it's odd how it takes a few minutes for Winterfell to get ravens from Cersei, Tyrion and Sam, but its been 2 weeks now and no Raven from the Wall saying, hey your bro is here.
Wouldn't get too hopeful about the Stark family reunion. Arya and Bran have perfected the art of roaming the earth for end to end while always managing to miss their family by a matter of minutes. My guess is Arya is headed for some type of reunion with the Hound. I thought that might be him right before the Direwolf showed up. Jon is already on his way to Dragonstone so unless they meet on the road Arya will miss him even if she gets to Winterfell. Like everyone else I'm confused as to why news of Bran arrival at the Wall has not reached Winterfell. Maybe the watch's Raven service is out. Jon manage to get one from Sam all the way from the Citidel.
The direwolfs are a much lessor player in the show than the books. I guessing budget and time constraints. Didn't Arya have dreams about Nymeria in the books even going into her at times? I always expected Nymeria to reappear and dramatically save Arya at some crucial time. Martin's gone out of his way in the books to just leave crums that she is alive and out there somewhere. You know that's foreshadowing something.
In the Cersie / Dragon matchup I'm taking the Dragon no matter what they're cooking up down in the basement.
Overall I actually thought they would deal with the whitewalkers this season and leave the last season for the final fight for the throne and maybe a little Dani / Jon hookup.

If Sam cures Jora's greyscale with dragon glass, does that make Jora semi-impervious to the white walkers since his skin has been treated with dragon glass? He might be able to wreck some undead if that's the case. Or maybe that gives Jon and crew in the north a thought on armor?
I doubt Sansa is going to fall under the spell of Littlefinger, given that he knew what would befall her if she married Ramsey Bolton and he encouraged her anyway. Once bitten twice shy. Something tells me she will play along with Littlefinger only to pull the double whammy on him and get her revenge for the Bolton thing at some point. Out doing the master of duplicity himself.
I don't think Sam will use dragon glass. I also think the problem with Sam's cure will be if Jorah can survive all the grey scale being cut off. I think Sam will then use herb or potions to cure the flesh after he cuts it off.
Does Sam have any Dragon glass? I thought he was using the potion the old messier said had been disproven and was too risky.
Maybe so, I was just going by that blurb in the book referencing Dragon glass curing greyscale.
It does, though I got the feeling the potion was from a different book.
Actually, the old Maester said that what Sam is attempting is too risky. Not that it had been disproven. He told Sam that the Maester who had successfully cured Greyscale ended up infected (and it killed him), so the attempted cure has basically been outlawed.
Alright I rewatched the episode and I think the "white" by EastWatch that people think is ice is really a cloud. If you look there is open water on the other side farther North. Unless the white walkers can just freeze the ocean then I think the wall has to fall. Also why wouldn't they have done a long time ago and surprised everyone. I am sure having a Stark in Winterfell is some big key to it all.
So I read some spoilers and I'm pretty certain that theory is not going to happen.
HBO could go in a different direction, but it is pretty clear that GRRM isn't going to go with that "walk around the wall" idea. He has put too much effort into describing the power of the wall. Allowing them go go around would be like revealing that dragons can no longer live in Westeros and die when they cross the narrow sea.
