Not that I know of. Someone from JMI and Mitch need to have some kind of joint conference and publicly put some of these fears to rest. I won’t lie…the video here actually did put some fear in me about JMI. The specific quote about an agent expressing concern about specific contract language bothered me.

They’re just going to lie to you. Mitch has been gaslighting the fan base for years. The guy is obsessed with his image you ever met the type that always tried to convince everyone of his ethics? How clean he is? They’re usually the most corrupt in the room.
Barnhart's hair-trigger defensiveness on this subject when asked about it by media members is worrying.

I watched about the first half of that video. A GM is an absolute 100% MUST have. Someone who understands the landscape of high level recruits and transfers value in college basketball.
Over paying a bit for a stud recruit or transfer player I can live. But not for a middle of the road player because the coach has no clue what he’s doing.

It would require JMI from my understanding. That or we’d have to settle out. No telling what that would cost.
JMI has a lot at stake here. They are trying to become a major player on the scene, but if they ruin UK they’ll have no shot at that. Best thing they can do is take that language out and live and let live. But they paid way more for UK than Learfield paid for say Alabama, that’s how they were able to get the deal. Now that’s my understanding, how it’s been explained. If I’m understanding it correctly. So I’d imagine they don’t want to take anything out given what they’ve paid.
The two sides need to get together and restructure the entire thing. Mitch has to be removed he’s the worst contract negotiator I’ve ever seen. My family has been in athletic administration and dealership business, plus politics. I’ve never seen or heard of a worse contract negotiator. He has absolutely no idea what he’s doing. That’s a fact.
So the two sides would have to come to the table and JMI has the leverage. Do they see it as their best interest to remove it? Could UK settle something back to help get the language removed? I don’t think anybody AT UK knows how to handle this. It’s going to take outside agencies and Barnhart removed from any decisions. Maybe someone else knows more than I.
Talking about a Golden parachute, Mitch seems to have found one here. I read on another board that he gets an automatic 2 million dollar " bonus" every time the JMI contract is renewed as well as a six figure " consulting fee" while the contract is in force. Also should UK fire him they must REIMBURSE JMI for every dollar they have paid him up to that date. Let that set in a minute and consider the implications. Need an OIG (Office of Inspector General) investigation of this AND the LLC Barnhart started to disburse revenue sharing money ( of which he is Chairman of Board and has complete autonomy on disbursement) immediately. This is SO corrupt it is almost beyond belief. The conflict of interest is staggering.
If this is true, I never again want to hear the words morals and ethics associated with Mitch Barnhart. That is as corrupt as it gets. All this talk of ethics might have just been a cover for corrupt behavior like it usually is. The man might have sold out UK sports to pad his pockets.
Remember, NOBODY else in the conference went with JMI. Why did we?
All they have to do (and will do) is change the claw back language imo. I think it will be ok. Eli, Mitch, and Pope still need to go.
Of those 3 are brought back, especially Barnhart and Capiluto, the corruption runs too deep and this program is finished being dominant. They’ve always tried to stop it from being dominant since Barnhart was brought in.
Why? It would just be corporate BS and nonsense.
If the UK actually wants to win anything in Basketball and, to a lesser degree, football, it has to get rid of MB. Between contracts and the people he has hired, he has done a terrible job. People are excited about football at the moment, but only because their previous coach was let go and will still be paid $ 30 million, regardless of whether he gets another job or not. The things MB has done here are unbelievably bad.
Oh I don’t disagree with you at all there. Problem is I don’t think they will fire MB with retirement coming in the summer. I was asking for something that I think is more realistic in the here and now.
It's time to investigate Barnhardt, as it seems unlikely he's not financially benefiting from this 25-year contract decision.
This is my biggest issue. Why would you sign a 15 year deal on anything? Much less something we don’t know will work. I’m convinced Mitch is going brain dead with these terrible deals
