OR you could simply make them pass the ball, execute plays, play team ball and shoot until their fingers are raw. What a bunch of new age gobbledygook.

It’s our fault. the fruit cake fans that love Kentucky because of a standard but are called crazies for not wanting to lower the standard.
Yeah damn us and the Bama football fans for wanting to continue being good at our respective sports. Us spoiled rotten children are the problem.

If we would just not care, then it wouldn't matter!

And people wonder why the divorce rates are high these days.

Alabama went to the CFP this year. Kentucky’ll be lucky if we make the NIT. Apparently wanting to be above mediocre is too much for some of these fans.

Man I miss the old Rupp Rafters. On3 is lame

Thanks for the link.

Imagine a flowering of what could be. We must learn how to lead high-frequency lives in the face of greed. Soon there will be a condensing of complexity the likes of which the nexus has never seen.

I used to send out emails using buzzword generator after a word salad would come down from leadership.

Staff is encouraged to use out of the box thinking to holistically manifest low hanging fruit into greater customer satisfaction.

Some of you don’t “UNDERSTAND THE ASSIGNMENT.”

The assignment Mitch Barnhart gave Mark Pope was to act as Emotional Therapist to help guide young men who were shut off from their feelings to a happy place where they were more open to expressing love and nurturing others.

He’s only failing if you understood the assignment to be winning basketball games.

The Pattern.

Rupp = Great
Hall = Good
Sutton = Drunk
Pitino = Great
Tubby = Good
Gillespie = Drunk
Cal = Great (till 2016)
Cal = Good (2017-till end of tenure)
Pope = Drunk on Positivity/Analytics

So by this retconned Coaching Pattern.

Our next coach "Should be a great one."
I liked it better when our drunk coaches were actual real drunks. At least their teams played hard.

The peak divorce rates in the US were between 1960-1980 and have been declining since

I think Pope may just be too nice of a guy for the job.

When you read books about the great coaches of the past …in both basketball and football …there’s a common trait that stands out: there were times when they pushed the players so hard that they almost begin to hate him. Because those coaches understood that their job was not to be the players’ buddy/pal, but instead to get the best out of them.

But Pope so wants to be perceived as the nice guy liked by everyone that I don’t think he has it in him to do that.

I increasingly miss the hardass old school coaches that would never ever spew this sort of psychobabble jibberish.

“Screw your feelings. You can do what I say and play better or you can sit on the bench.”
Yea and to the people who say you can’t do that now days is false. Lot of kids love a hard nose coach. Lot of them prefer it actually.

Popes biggest problem right now is he can’t just say what he knows. If he does, he’s gotta tell us that these guys suck and he did a terrible job. He doesn’t want to to do that, so he says lot of ******** that means nothing. Just be a man and say it.

He also knows he isn’t getting any top recruits in to help next season. Guy knows he’s completely screwed and basically signing his term papers for after next season. He’s a mess. I kind of feel for him, but it’s his own fault. And he’s a millionaire. And on top of it all, he really jumped the gun with his preseason hype of this team being 96 level, and all of that 9 talk. Guess he didn’t see it, but he knows he should have.

Also, he’s just soft. Can’t fix that, it’s DNA.

Note for future hiring committee: don’t hire a coach that has never even made a conference tournament final to try to coach at the biggest pressure cooker in all of basketball.
Maybe take a look at their personality first and foremost. If they can’t handle the pressure it doesn’t matter how good their record is. Kentucky has to have someone who can take the fanbase and boosters on. Not someone who whimpers at the slightest bit of criticism.

You can tell they left Mitch alone to make this hire. Mitch is a beta male operating in an alpha league...

Mitch's current list, probably:
1. Scott Drew
2. Travis Ford
3. John Pelphrey
4. Brad White
5. Shaka Smart

It is a direct reflection of MB and his own personal views. UK needs an alpha bulldog. That's not what we have or will get as long as MB has his hands in it.

Living with 5 women the last 20+ years has made him soft.
Honestly, I thought he was a bit soft back in 96 when he played. He never rubbed me as a guy that had an ounce of toughness in him.

He was the team captain lol. How awful of Mitch - he’s making lots of our fans turn on our own because he’s such an awful AD

He is/was an intelligent guy, so maybe that's why he was the captain.

I kean, I don't personally know him, but there has never been a point in time where I ever looked at Mark Pope and thought anything other than "soft". He just looks and acts soft to me.

Also, I'm a Pope fan, I can guarantee there is nobody outside of his camp, that wants Pope to he great, than me. I want him to kill it, but when it comes to stuff like this, I would call my own mom out if she was failing the way MP is.

I absolutely hate the fact that we're going to have to eat one of our own at some point. Mitch did this.

And yet some wonder why elite recruits aren’t coming here.
Honestly, I can't argue with your sentiment. I just cannot see this kind of communication resonating with players. How could it ??
Does he go out of his way to come up with this stuff ... or is this just naturally him ?? It certainly is not mainstream coaching, to say the least.

Assuming they, like me, think he should’ve stayed in med school.
As a former player he obviously understands the environment here but I think he didn't understand the difference in being a player versus the coach.

As a player he just had to worry about his business and keeping up with his teammates as a captain. Pitino had to deal with the media and the fanbase regarding our performance/recruiting. In addition it was easier back then since social media didn't exist.

Last year he got a pass due to the circumstances of when he was hired plus he had some good wins especially beating Duke. This year is 100% on him and that cheerful guy from last year is gone . No doubt he is really feeling the pressure and he is not handling it well currently (my opinion).

I hate to see one of our own getting embarrassed like this. No more former players should be the rule when we are looking for a coach. Having to fire/ force resignation from a former player s*cks all the way around.
