Matt Campbell Responds To Michigan Coaching Rumors

Matt Campbell is in the midst of a very solid season at Iowa State. The Cyclones currently have 7-2 mark on the year and sit comfortably atop the Big 12.

This past weekend, Campbell led Iowa State past a scrappy Texas team that many thought might have their number.

After the game, Campbell was quizzed on the growing speculation that he may leave at the end of this season and take a job at Michigan.

“I only think those are distractions if you allow them to be,” Campbell said.

“The biggest thing for us is we’d rather be who we say we are and let our actions take care of what we are, rather than our words.

“I think that’s really helped us and I think, especially internally, the trust our players have in myself and our coaching staff, and vice versa, the trust I have in our young people and the leadership in our program.”

Campbell also got brutally honest regarding his initial goals and intentions when he first arrived at Iowa State.

“I don’t think we put any goals and expectations, other than man, can we not be the laughing stock of college football,” he said.

“I think a lot of ways, it took me a while, once I got here, to figure out kind of what we were from a perception standpoint. And then how do we do a great job of giving this program consistency and an opportunity to become the best version of ourselves we can be?

“I think it’s ironic that the senior class is the one we recruited here, when we were 3-9 and we didn’t have a whole lot to sell. And these young men believed in us enough to come here and have been an anchor of creating a positive change in our football programs.”

Will Campbell ultimately end up replacing Jim Harbaugh at Michigan when it’s all said and done? Time will tell.

We'll see if the big guy that's the Michigan AD is actually in charge, or whether the liberal Michigan administration is calling the shots. If it's the liberal leadership, then kaperdick loving Harbaugh won't be fired. I don't have proof, but I'm smart enough to know that Michigan liberal leadership was likely calling the shots that led to the B1G being a clown show this football season.

I'm not sure if they would go after the Iowa State coach or not. They tend to not be smart when it comes to hiring football coaches. I know the silence is starting to hurt in recruiting though.

Campbell saw what happened at a place like K State with Bill Snyder.

Campbell can be the program at Iowa State.
Hard to gain that power elsewhere. Matter what he desires

Campbell knows his climb at Iowa State slips every 3 to 4 years if he stays. It takes experienced players to win when you only get 3 star players. ISU fans are happy with 7-5 or 8-4 records.

Dave Aranda believes he can change that.

Especially with the QB he has coming in

Two recruiting rankings

Coming into college and then coming out of college

If you recruit 3 stars and 10+ of them become NFL draft picks those aren't 3 stars...

Matt Campbell thinks the same thing

TrollVanZandt has some serious man love for Dave Aranda, who has proven nothing as a head coach at Baylor. Wonder why...

The evaluation by his staff is being spoken about

Watch his QB recruit. According to some was the best QB at the Elite 11 this summer.

He did find Patrick Queen at LSU....
Made a 3 star CB into a first round draft pick at LB

Michigan is now floating rumors that Harbaugh will be extended for 2-3 years. Could be legit, but also could be a tactic to save the recruiting class, with early signing day just around the corner.

Hearing Texas may be looking at the Penn State and Oregon coaches, should Urban not be interested.

Harbaugh isnt doing that bad at Michigan...this year they are awful but this season is rather meaningless.

I know the expectations are high ones at Michigan, but good luck finding a coach to over-take the tOSU machine.
