They showed the replay from different positions and all Lyles touched was the dudes toe.
I guess the ref needed a fart time out.

Agreed... the scissor kick is getting absurd. How can you actively play defense and not be close enough to the shooter for him to kick his foot out and hit you? I don't think it should be an offensive foul, it should just be a no call and people would quit doing it.

I'm baffled as to how any ref can be fooled by the scissor kick, yet it happens all the time. Why doesn't the head of officiating get the officials together and show them a film of Luke flopcock and say, "hey this is getting embarrassing, stop calling this".

Back in my day, it was called poor shooting form when the jump shooter stuck his legs out 2 feet in front of him when he shot the ball.

A season-ending broken ankle from landing awkwardly on a defender's foot will put a stop to this. It'll happen. Just a matter of time.

Go back and watch it. I'm not sure if Lyles got him with the body, but he definitely hit Riley's arm and follow through. It was definitely a foul 10 times out of 10.

Any alleged foul on a 15 ft jump shot that doesn't alter the shot at all is not much of a foul no matter what you think you saw.

If you're talking about a foul on the follow through, that gets called almost every time.

That's not true at all.

Anytime you touch the shooting motion, it's a foul.

"Not much of a foul" is akin to "sort of pregnant."

This and how the player with the ball can jump into any defender creating all the contact and getting the foul call in his favor. if you do not go straight up for a shot and draw contact there should be no foul call period.

That's sort of stupid. I believe the color guy said at least twice that he didn't see much of anything but of course the ref and you noticed he may have been brushed.

And you had to watch it 10 times to make sure!

I'll guarantee you that if I had fouled him the basket would not have been made.

That was his opinion.
And he got fouled is your opinion.

I think I like his opinion and mine and about 23,000 actually sitting at Rupp's a little better than yours. But hey, a man is entitled to his own opinion (even if it is wrong).

You are going to be the only one that saw this. I rewound it 6 times and so no contact on any arm.

That's because you are not objective.

You already know that though, right?

If you actually believe that was a foul, I feel bad for Frieda. Because as her boss, you are prone to mistakes.

It is an offensive foul, but never called that way. The offensive player is the one that is initiating the contact.

Is the color commentator non-objective also? I must've been "tell mean lies on Vandy day" yesterday.
You're the only one who seem it. It's literally one foul shot, if there was nothing significant to be seen from it, then there wouldn't be a thread on it, but the scissor kick business is as common as a flop these days. If you want me to believe that his shooting motion includes his legs being in front of his body by 2 feet on all of his jumpshots where his body is squared up with the basket, you'll likely be disappointed, because I'm not buying it.
