Headlights and other common annoyances on the road

Not sure why people think they need to have 248 million candlepower of dimmed lights in their 1993 Chevy Corsica but it doesn't do me any favors coming the other way. Those that don't have replicated sunlight for low beams just decide to turn on the high beams and leave them on, why the hell not right.

Also, did we get a influx of people from Ohio that have moved to Frankfort or Versailles? US60 between the two has become I-75 North based on what I can tell. Lord have mercy people.

You have to face the facts that there are a lot of morons out there. I live in Shelby County and it's amazing how many people don't understand the basic rule that you keep right except to pass. I would guess at least 30% of drivers stay in the passing lane when they drive down US 60, which means you have to pass them using the right lane instead of the passing lane. It makes me wonder how some people got their license to begin with.

People also don't seem to understand staying in their lane when turning from one road onto another. If the road they are turning onto has two lanes in each direction, it's amazing how many people change lanes in the middle of the turn. That's crazy dangerous if two cars are turning from opposite directions at the same time.

People that ride bikes and want to "share the road" except for the little thing called laws of the road. If you are riding a bike on River Road and get hit you shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Terrible take, Glenn. Do you avoid potholes or do you hit them wide open? How about speed bumps?

I didn't say go after them. I don't know where you live but River Road in Louisville is a winding tree covered road. It's a pretty ride which is why they like to ride it. You don't have to try to hit them but if you choose to ride places like that you accept the consequences.

When at a traffic light, stopped in the left lane, first position, the light turns green, and the car beside you, in the right position, who has been driving slow, suddenly thinks when the light turns green, that they are at a quarter mile drag strip, and takes off like a bat out of hell, and then slows back down to 30mph. FCC.

- people who stop halfway thru intersections on traffic lights & in the middle of x-walks. I mean there are white lines across lanes telling you where to stop. Must think they're decorations. I love it when they're so far out that they don't trigger the left turn signal & have to sit thru ongoing traffic till it clears. What DA's.
- I'd say 75% of people don't even know where the turn signals on their cars are or if they do, what they are. They must enjoy watching those behind slamming on their brakes when they turn.
- Lex drivers are the slowest, most unconcerned about others moving along thru intersection. It's a disease.

A group of people that I really couldn't care less if they live or die are the people on the Snyder during rush hour when there is a lineup of cars a half mile long but they see a space in the right lane to move up 2 cars in that line and just cut someone off to get back over. I truly believe that cops should be driving unmarked cars every day looking for those people and let them spend a night in jail.

I have to agree. Having had to drive in Louisville more lately I have noticed that cutting someone off there is much more malicious that in Lexington. They tend to either cut you off with little to no room or cut you off at their own pace, regardless of what speed you are going. Damn near ran a lady off 64 the other day cause she pulled in front of me doing 65ish and basically stayed at 25 for a couple of miles. I was a little pissed. Lol

Morons who drive during dawn/dusk times without HL on, or when it’s raining. Yeah, you migh be able to see but it’s just as important to be seen by other drivers.

To be fair, a lot of cars today do a crappy job of making sure you turn your lights on. I rent a lot of cars; some have the automatic lights that turn on based on darkness. Others don't, but have daytime running lights. Sometimes you think you have your lights on because you can see fine, but you don't have your red lights on in the back. Kind of messed up.

I get past a slow driver and see that they're on their cell phone. I just want to bash them.

And people that put on their turn signal but refuse to get into the center turn lane until the last second, so they have to slow way down.

Left turn arrow is red and you are first in line: it is your entire reason for existing to pay close attention and react faster than Don Garlits once that arrow turns green.

You don't then I will put you in the ditch.
I used to get upset at that one until I watched someone get t-boned due to a red-light runner. I've become nervous about pulling out too quick now (lol ...)

I hate people that make turns in front of me.....I was turning left on a light off of Poplar Level Rd......some butt head comes speeding up on my right and makes a left hand turn in front of me........if I had been like the rest of the idiots and had a phone in my face I would have hit him it was that close.....

There was a murder in that area last night. Did you take matters into your own hands?

It isn't because the thought has never crossed my mind......Louisville has the most dangerous, most inconsiderate drivers of any place I have ever drove.......I have drove around the Arch de Triumph in Paris and it wasn't as bad as around here.....

I added a dash cam so I can start catching all the idiots with it and to give myself some protection from someone trying to lie about who is at fault if I am ever in an accident. Wish I had it a few months back when some road rage incident was going on between 2 drivers in front of me.

The moving roadblock driver. The woman driving 65 MPH in the left lane, next to a car going exactly the same speed in the right lane blocking everyone else.
That reminds me of a similar issue. Semi trucks who pass another semi truck going up an incline. They know it will take forever to get around the other semi because both are losing speed as they go up hill, and in many cases they never get around them at all, but they get in the passing lane because they don't want to loose momentum starting up hill. They end up clogging up both lanes and going 45 MPH on a 70 MPH highway.

Ultimately, most of the things listed in this thread is related to selfishness and not considering anyone else before the driver acts. I would guess if you knew these people in real life, they would do similar selfish things when not in the car.

I see all of these every night in my commute home. I am amazed by all of the cars that have no lights at all. The police in Atlanta don't stop a vehicle unless there is an accident, or maybe a super speeder.

Damn if you don't sound like a real life Gladys Kravitz.

I'd rather be safe than sorry. I mainly got it because it has a backup camera as well and helps with visibility since I have 3 vertebrae in my neck fused together. It was a bonus that it had a front facing camera and records both front and back.

I agree. Selfish is a great word to describe today's drivers. The person that takes off extremely slow from a stop light and keeps you from getting through it, the person that doesn't turn their blinker on when turning, passing slowly on a highway, etc.. All of these are examples where people are in their own little world and don't really care whether anyone else is impacted by their actions.

Buckeye drivers that have no idea there is a lane other than the passing lane.

The cars that have the brightness of the sun for headlights.

^ Our new/used CRV has that. We’ve been flashed a few times from drivers thinking our brights are on.

Ohio navy. Think they can't drive you should watch them back a boat into the water at the marina. It's funny unless your waiting in line behind them.

I can laugh at their sheer ignorance when it comes to backing a boat, and for the most part their lack of ability to comprehend "driving" on a lake. Seeing a buckeye cut off a corner the opposite direction during 4th of July boating is crazy.

When I get pissed its because it takes the dad 10 minutes to get the trailer in the water, 5 minutes to get it set to the right depth, another 10 for the wife to get it on the trailer and then another 5 to get it winched up. But what really pisses me off is when the pull 10 feet out of the water and start to unload. I try to be as nice as possible to ask them to move to the parking lot to unload, but their reaction then dictates my next reaction. And at times it hasn't been good. Farking idiots.

Yeah this is why I avoid driving I-65 at all cost.
