Hey that is possible, don’t expect half these guys to believe or think that way. Oh heaven forbid, it’s a sin against Gods commandments. Some think Rileys gone already and Frost is already hired and recruiting his next years QB. Lmfao
But I could see that. Riley has great connections and has some elite talent that has NOT even farted in our direction in years now looking at us and even taking visits to Lincoln....see 5 star Micah Parsons this weekend. Notice Green and Bounds found there way to Parsons and his family and Bookie and his mom this weekend. They see the talent Riley is bringing to us. We haven’t seen these likes....well since Callahan.
I heard the same, but not because they want Riley to have more time, but because they didn't want to give Eichorst the chance to make the next hire.that Bounds actually fired Eichorst because Eichorst was planning on firing Riley to save his own job and Bounds wanted to give him more time.
This flies in the face of what I speculated. Anybody hear anything similar?

Yeah, I heard that from a friend who gets pretty solid info. It makes sense and I don't really think it is anything all that mind blowing. In the end we all will do what is best for us so SE trying to save his own bacon is normal.that Bounds actually fired Eichorst because Eichorst was planning on firing Riley to save his own job and Bounds wanted to give him more time.

You didn't hear anything. You saw it on twitter and claimed the information as your own in an attempt to garner e cred. Same old @nebraskafaninwiI heard as rumor too....the TCU AD is N.
Rumors I tell yeah.
I think, this is just a guess, that if he cans Riley and say promotes Bob...and if Bob ends up doing a kick *** job then SE looks smart and maybe saves his own job.I don't see how firing Riley saves his job? If Bounds and Green wanted him gone, firing Riley isn't saving his job. If Bounds and Green didn't want him to make the next hire, they could have fired him in November before the next hire is made, even if Eichorst fired Riley in September. None of this makes any sense.
SE got fired because he kept making PR blunders and some of the boosters didn't like him. Friday night games, then no Friday night games. Black Friday then no Black Friday and on and on. Some were upset over canning Yori. He had several strikes against him and Hawks and Clare hadn't forgotten him canning Pelini and everybody knows Tom was still pissed about how HP did an end run in hiring SE while pushing Tom away (supposedly). Then you have the Oregon first half and the perfect opportunity to get rid of him. We won't know what it means for Riley until the end of the year, but if he doesn't get enough wins I can't imagine he'll be retained.I don't see how firing Riley saves his job? This isn't about Tom. Stop. The tin foil hats must be on sale around here.SE got fired because he kept making PR blunders and some of the boosters didn't like him. Everything else in your post is correct. You also forgot that SE fired pelini a year too late.
This is huge. Led to a lame duck coach and two lost recruiting classes.
No exception to the rule, even when a coach blasts fans and basically asks to be fired? It also goes back to ADs not coming in and firing HCs as their first significant action.

He botched it, plain and si ple. No unspoken rule changes that

AgreedThis thread is the dumbest thing on this board in a long time. And that says slot.

Bounds has the authority to tell Eichorst that we were NOT firing Riley because we want to give him more time...without FIRING Eichorst. I am not believing this rumor.that Bounds actually fired Eichorst because Eichorst was planning on firing Riley to save his own job and Bounds wanted to give him more time.

This foots with my thoughts from the outside looking in.A little off-topic, but I'll add to the rumor mill. FWIW, this is from a current player on the team and I can't mention him by name. Some of it seems very far-fetched. But thought I would share, don't shoot the messenger. I'm not a troll (although hot women said I resemble one, even ugly ones, too). Anyway:
The players love Riley. They hate Diaco and said he is a nut case. They also liked Banker.
Speculation that Diaco was actually brought in to supplant Riley in 2 yrs.
Since spring, Diaco has been creating all the practice plans, sitting in on all the offensive meetings, working the entire depth chart.
Firing Banker was SE's decision, not Riley. I've heard this from a couple other reliable sources. Diaco told Riley the first week he wasn't talking to the media and straight bailed after the game, due to the defensive fiasco. The original plan was for Diaco to address the media before MR.
Last year's recruiting class and current committs (thus far) not very well-liked by the team and too many "individuals".
Also said there was no leadership on the team and his conversations with former players stayed it felt like the Callahan era.
Don't shoot the messenger.

I don't believe for a minute that Diaco was brought in by Eichorst to supplant Riley in a couple of years. That's ridiculous and I have a hard time believing that any player would think that.A little off-topic, but I'll add to the rumor mill. Don't shoot the messenger. Its his theory, largely due to what Diaco has been involved with on both sides of the ball.I don't believe for a minute that Diaco was brought in by Eichorst to supplant Riley in a couple of years. This has definitely been the case for the entire MR tenure. No leadership...no surprise. The program has no identity.

I didnt make anything up. I'll just delete it and this is why I really don't like posting or sharing nuggets of info.This. It's amazing the **** people will make up. (If it wasn't you OP, then the original source).
Nuggets of info? More like nuggets of bs.I didnt make anything up. I'll just delete it and this is why I really don't like posting or sharing nuggets of info.
Diaco would be an almost impossible sell as a head coach. His team was horrible, he is goofy to put it kindly, and he is horrible with public relations. Quirky coordinators are fine. They don't tend to make good head coaches particularly in football. (Even the Pirate has plenty of detractors.)Don't shoot the messenger. Its his theory, largely due to what Diaco has been involved with on both sides of the ball.
