Sorry but no it will not happen as long as Gee is president.Could this actually be possible with our new AD being announce very soon?
They brought Rod in because they are moving from FCS to G5 and CUSA. They want a smooth transition. It will be a let down to hire Rich, however I do think he's a way better coach than Brown. He's more on par with Holgs, possible a shade better. But if he can catch lightening in a bottle again with talent like White and Slaton, than he will win no matter where its at but that is unlikely to find another Pat White.
But the whole he took Jacksonville St to a 9-2 season in his first year holds no water. Jacksonville St has maybe had 1 or 2 seasons with less than 9 wins in the last 20 years. 3 of the last 4 years before RR went there they finished with 10+ wins. He isnt rebuilding there, he is just trying to keep them on the high level they are already at.
Rich Rod is a better fit in the CUSA than the B12 imo. I do think he would produce better results than Neal Brown, but thats not saying much. They brought Rod in because they are moving from FCS to G5 and CUSA. They want a smooth transition.
Brown is a good coach. He just isn't a P5 level coach. He should be FCS or smaller G5 school. It was working at Troy not so much here.Rich Rod is a better fit in the CUSA than the B12 imo. I do think he would produce better results than Neal Brown, but thats not saying much.
If Rod is smart, he won’t come back and ruin his legacy of success. I don’t think he can win here at the level he did the first time. It would be like Johnny Majors return to Pitt.Rich Rod is a better fit in the CUSA than the B12 imo. I do think he would produce better results than Neal Brown, but thats not saying much.
Please do tell….Hold onto your hats folks. You may not like what happens in a couple of weeks.

I think he could win 7-8 here, but I don’t see those 10-11 seasons he had before. Is 7-8 wins a year worth taking Rod back considering the way he left? I say noIf it were guaranteed that RR could reproduce what he did from 2005-2007, then I would say it is a proposition worth entertaining despite the previous bad blood. However, the data since RR left points that it is highly unlikely he recreates those golden years here and that uncertainty with all his baggage should be a hard pass.
Wow...what a jackass statement. You and anybody who agrees with this juvenile opinion should go root for Virginia Tech, Pitt, or Penn State.I hope not. People need to remember what RR did to WVU when he left. I'd rather WVU lose every game than have RR as coach.
People make mistakes. It happens. Some of the same people who share your thinking have said they'd love Bobby Petrino. Sooooo.............explain that logic?I hope not. People need to remember what RR did to WVU when he left. I'd rather WVU lose every game than have RR as coach.
He was pretty good with Rasheed Marshall. Just saying.Brown cant coach and has proven that four years in a row. Guessing his assistants were largely responsible for any G5 success as was level of competition.
RR burnt WVU to the ground before leaving and really hasnt done anything of note since but get fired. Outside of the Pat White years he wasnt much either. People forget he was going up against teams like Rutgers and Pitt and Louisville and USF- not great TCU and Baylor and Oklahoma teams. Not Texas in Austin or good Tech Or k State squads. Dont expect he would be that high on anyones list now.
8-9 wins per year with Rasheed. That was goodHe was pretty good with Rasheed Marshall. Just saying.

But wasnt facing competition at the level WVU will even after OU and Texas leave. Plus how long ago was that? He has done zilch since except get fired and get pushed down to fcsHe was pretty good with Rasheed Marshall. Just saying.
And we can find a new HC to win 7-8 a year. In the newly configured Big12, I think we can do that without Rod.I agree. Only way I'd say it is worth considering is if it is all but guaranteed RR could reproduce those golden 3 years. Since there is no way to have that kind of certainty, he isn't worth the bad blood baggage.
You have no knowledge of anything so sit down and shut up.Brown cant coach and has proven that four years in a row. Guessing his assistants were largely responsible for any G5 success as was level of competition.

Nobody gives a **** about you and your lover.WVU was winning in the BIG 12 at a clip of 7-8 wins a year before Brown arrived. Just because Brown wasnt able to have winning seasons doesnt mean competent coaches cant. Agree RR isnt needed to win 7 or 8 games a year.
This from the clown who was on knees blowing anyone he could to get Rod back. But wasnt facing competition at the level WVU will even after OU and Texas leave. Plus how long ago was that? He has done zilch since except get fired and get pushed down to fcs
RR did not, not and not burn anything to the ground before he left. We won with a Head Coach in name only after he left with a Wake Forest offense.Brown cant coach and has proven that four years in a row. Guessing his assistants were largely responsible for any G5 success as was level of competition.

Finally an intelligent response from a herd fan.You guys have your sights set too low being satisfied with 7/8 wins. 10 wins minimum for the next coach.
Yes when he left WVUs football program was vilified in the media due to him smearing WVU Openly in order to avoid paying what he owed. It painted a very negative picture of WVU athletics and made coaching hires more difficult. Also, he steered top notch recruits away from WVU that would have ensured continued success after Pat White and co. Terrell Pryor was his first call before even informing his own players at WVUas an example. This led to the hiring of a subpar coach who could not win a depleted Big East or beat the likes of a terrible Colorado squad or East Carolina. WVU went rapidly out of the rankings and top notch recruits didn’t look WVUs way.RR did not, not and not burn anything to the ground before he left. We won with a Head Coach in name only after he left with a Wake Forest offense.
Where do you get the nonsensical idea players leave due to “ hurt feelings?” Certainly players don’t want to be abused by a coach with a dinosaur attitude towards them and why should they? They aren’t paid. Players are moving on for better playing time as they try to convince others they deserve to be pro, because they don’t want to be associated with a losing program, because they want to be with a program bringing better exposure to themselves and occasionally because they can bring in more revenues for themselves and their families. Here is my two cents on Rich Rod. I truly believe he did a hell of a job while he was here and I would personally like to see him back for nostalgia and obviously that old success that we used to have.
The main question is does his way of coaching exist anymore. NIL and The Portal allows players who get their feelings hurt leave w/o consequence. RR teams were well disciplined and he was a great coach teaching discipline to the players.
You can be a hard *** “my way or the highway” Coach at Jacksonville St. because their is now where to go from there. Here, you can get upset and go down to a Jacksonville St or somewhere else when you get pushed.
Not sure the RR style will work…..but it really does appear this could be an extreme reality in a few weeks now that the smoke is thicker today than it has ever been. I just don’t think we will give this “Home run Hire the University needed to close with our candidate and it appears the deal is closed” a head coach of his choosing unless RR was his guy?
Rod burned bridges. He didn't burn down WVU. That subpar coach won more games in his 3 years than your boyfriends first 3.Yes when he left WVUs football program was vilified in the media due to him smearing WVU Openly in order to avoid paying what he owed. What does smoke sound like?Could this actually be possible with our new AD being announce very soon?
