Heels beat UVA tonight

Assuming a Duke win tonight, the question is who would you rather play? Duke is clearly better than Carolina, but it is so hard to beat a team 3 times. And, UVA is the better team, but I think Duke can make baskets when needed to eek out a low scoring game.
Just to add, it would be nice to beat Carolina for a 3rd time!!! And, a UVA loss guarantees we have a 1 seed, if we don't already.

With both teams, they were right there with us (or winning) but we were just better in the past few minutes of the game. By the way, the way Duke has closed out games in the last few minutes this year is a very encouraging sign for the post season and a huge difference from last year. I'd probably rather play UVA because Greensboro is a bigger home court advantage for UNC than playing in the Dome.
But I think UVA easily wins against UNC. UNC needs to get offense rebounds to win and UVA is one of the best at preventing that from happening. I just don't see UNC being able to score enough on UVA.

I suspect with the wins last night, both UVA and Duke sealed their #1 status. I think Villanova, Arizona, and Wisky are jockeying for the last #1. I think all are deserving, so their performances in their respective tournaments are going to be determine their fate.
As for who would I rather face, it would be UVA. I think Duke has pretty much an equal chance of beating either team. But I'd like another opportunity to play a team like UVA before the NCAA tournament. Plus UVA had the best ACC regular season regular, though Duke eeked out a win against them. If we were to beat them in the ACC tourney finals, I feel that would provide some clarity on who was the "best" ACC team this year.

Unc WILL NOT beat UVA tonight. With the way the cavs play defense, and the horrible shooters the cheaters have, I don't see it happening. Holes may be lucky to score 50 tonight. Championship game will be a rematch of last year. But, can you imagine the meltdown if we did play the holes and beat them three straight?

I don't see UNC winning this one. A UVA-Duke final would be tremendous television, and a Final Four caliber game. That's what I want to see.
I'm pretty sure we did it in 1999. I dont know of any years we have done it since, but im fairly sure the 99 team did.
You are correct that we did it in '99. The last time was '02.
Interesting side note - we played them in the ACC tournament in '98, '99, '01, '02, and '03. Then not until '11. Haven't since. Played them in '88, '89, '91, and '92. It seems like it goes in cycles or something.

Either matchup would be great in my opinion. We could erase any doubt that we're better than UVA, or we crush the Tar Holes. What's not to love?
I think Virginia controls the tempo and wins this game. I also would rather play Virginia again, so that the true top 2 teams in the ACC match up.
It is almost impossible to beat a good team 3 times in a season, so those wanting to play Carolina again want to be careful what you wish for!

^This. I am really worried about playing Carolina a third time. I honestly believe this Carolina team is putting it together at the right time. They have a shot at beating UVA tonight and I think they just might do that. I don't think I can handle playing them a third time. Especially if we lose in the championship game. This Duke team has been through too much adversity this season to lose to any of these teams in the ACC right now. I want this championship and I don't care who we beat or how we win to get it. Having said that, I would rather play UVA.
This year there have been 18 occurrences of 3 matchups between the same 2 teams from power conferences (with one team winning the first 2). Of those, the team that won the first 2 went on to win the final matchup 14 times.
Sure, UNC is looking pretty good right now, but we are playing our best as well. GTHCGTH.

I think the Holes will win this one as well, They played with some intensity and I thought they took Louisville out of anything they wanted to do with pretty good D. I will be a Cav fan tonight though.
GTHC, GTH! I don't know who'll win, but I'm not pulling for the Heels no matter what. I don't want them to get any confidence, and I don't want them to have a chance to improve their seed Go Hoos!

The Heels are taking it to Virginia, but the Cavs are still hanging in there after a horrible start. If UVA can hang tough and ever get the lead, I think they extinguish that fire that UNC is playing with.

I was thinking the same thing. They got used to playing without him for about the last month and now that he's back in the line up it's throwing off their timing It's kind of like what happened to us when Kyrie was out for most of the season then came back in the NCAA tourney.

ODD and Sky, we may need to start some preliminary planning for tomorrow. Yes, Duke still has to win. And UNC has to hold on. But we need to be on high alert to get last second preparations in order.
