Funny because people say Iowa can't coach yet that's not what those #s say. In that time period they've been better than Ohio St and Oklahoma st. People don't like how Tom & Terry act at times and they dont like them so they let that turn into they can't coach.
They’ve underperformed to seed, but over performed their recruiting.

1) people say that because no one likes Iowa haha
2) they’ve also been closest to PSU the last decade with minimal success. Again adds to the fuel without noting they were the best alternate.
3) since Ramos won in 14 they’ve had 2 individual champs. Considering the program, that seems under achieved to me

And this isn’t a “compared to OSU” discussion. Last decade has been equally (or worse) below expectations. We have had 3 champions since Perry in 14 if you did want to random stat compare tho.

Last Iowa champ above 157 was Borschel in 2010. To me, that says upperweight recruits don't relate to the Brands as being able to coach the upperweights. Iowa also doesn't have good enough coaching overall at the upperweights. Nor do they have a RTC to speak of. With better upperweight coaching and recruiting, Iowa may have won another 1-2 times since 2010.

On a related coaching note, why do so many former elite Iowa wrestlers walk away from the program disgruntled?
