Predicatble script.
Poor clown U . Entire team leaves , so no chance they come in and knock off the heavily favored hawks right?
wrong , Lester goes into turtle mode, and we seem to forget we should curb stomp these posers . Should have seen this coming. So tired of playing not to lose vs these punks.
once again clown u gets up for this game and we come in sleepwalking . Maddening

The clowns always get up to play us. It defines their season. If Rodgers had won tonight, they would've built a statue for him.

But they take advantage of Kirk's September Slump. We're always a step slower and still trying to figure out who we are. It's something that has defined the Kirk era.

I was fully expecting Clone fans to slobber all over Rogers and anoint him the second coming had they won. Even with the close loss, they are kind of doing that. Just like they did for Paul Rhoads … and Gene Chizik … and Matt Campbell.

That said, I think they’re better than most think, and I think Rogers will do ok there. Still, I don’t look for them to do much in the Big 12. At least not in the foreseeable future. As I predicted, Oklahoma State was down, but they have too much money to stay down… and they’re starting to rise again. Same for Baylor and TCU. And then there’s BYU, ASU, etc.

They should be optimistic. If Rogers is as good as they hope he will be, they will win some games until he dumps them for a real football program.

I remember after ugly 07’ loss to them in Ames how chizik was the 2nd coming according to their fans. One thing Roger’s won’t have is his AD who hired him after this years if he hits a rough patch.

I know they are getting a moral victory for playing us close. But I’m going to pump the brakes on them to a certain degree. Like announcer said I don’t think they will be last so bar so low they will in a sense over achieve some this year. Their offense first 2 weeks has been pretty pedestrian. Front 7 is their strength. Which odd thing seems like their D better suited against Iowa or big 10. Think in conference play secondary will get exposed vs a pass happy league. Question is can their offense muster up enough points.

I was super impressed by Iowa State and Jimmy Rodgers. All I heard about after Campbell left was how ISU was going to be a dumpster fire and never recover from his loss. I think they recovered just fine. I think their defense will be one of the best defenses we play this year. That was a good game for us to win before Big Ten play. I think ISU is going to surprise a lot of people in the Big 12 this season and I hope they do well.

One thing about last night that I really liked was after some of the dirty plays by ISU, most notably the punt return, was Iowa keeping its class and retaliated by getting the win. That speaks volumes about our identity and how well coached this team is.

We all know every team stacks the box against the run game, challenging Iowa to throw the ball.
I believe we have the answer to that situation in our wide receivers now.
Season is early, let's be a bit more patient before jumping on or off the bandwagon.

i’ll give them credit for game planning and playing in the margins…they came in knowing playing clean would result in a whipping. but the constant dirty plays are not my cup of tea and difficult to tip my hat for that
We couldn't pressure Raynor. Need to do this:

no problem being aggressive and playing tough but so many missed calls for penalties for dirty play…
Yeah, a lot of cheap shots happened right in front of the Big 12 officials and no call.

IF this series is continued Iowa should stipulate that B12 refs* do not officiate, in Iowa City or Ames. If that's a dealbreaker so be it.

*Or Mountain West refs, whatever conference the clowns are in then.

You are going to a bowl game this year. An impressive start to the Rogers era.

Iowa fans, we have Michigan in two weeks. Lots to work on.
ISU was disciplined. Good tacklers … Iowa is so so … ISU will go as its QB goes… Either ISU DLine is that good or our line is NOT as good as thought…

Play calling was a C+ … with the depth we have at WR and TE … we still really couldn’t anything beyond short passes …

Our multiple false starts was also a huge disappointment … we will get things buttoned up a bit …

I think ISU will have success under new coach …

Iowa SHOULD have won this game double digits … we had some sloppy tackling and just could not the run game going. A win is a win - especially rivalry game … but you sense in the stadium the normal craziness was calmed because Iowa fans (including me) could not believe this was happening …
