Unlike a lot of the longer-time posters, I didn't get to know Andy PopCat very well before he passed away. I do know that he was a very active poster before he became ill, and I always enjoyed reading his posts. It's a shame he's not here to share in the season, the bowl prep, etc. but OTOH I'm sure he's smiling down on the rest of us ...

Anyway, the LHL has a nice article about him in today's edition that I thought I would share with you.

Thanks for sharing ukalum1988. The link did not work for me; however, I just entered "andypopcat" into the search bar on the LHL page that did come up and it went right to the article. I miss AndyPopCat. Go Cats!!

I was surprised to see he was only 42. I always assumed he was older for some reason.

Surely a devoted fan that gave a lot of time and research to feed our need for info on UK football, it's a shame he wasn't here in person to watch our great turnaround.

Been reading Andy's links for years. Here, on scout, and on boards before those two existed. Andy would bring news links to the weekend games of commitments and recruiting news. He was an incredible resource. I put him in the Mel McCane category of Cat fans. Those who love to give to other fans. RIP Leon.

Makes me tear up too. Guy was a legend on these boards. I know he would love to be in Jacksonville this weekend and I believe he will be. RIP Andypopcat.

And I love this team. These boys have touched this beleaguered fanbase unlike any other in my memory. We old guys appreciate them as much for these acts of kindness as much as the wins. Proud to be a CAT FAN.

AndyPopCat was one of the best posters and ambassadors for U.K. football ever. I will miss his wealth of information and his passion for UKFootball.

He is sorely missed.

AndyPopCat was one of those rare posters whose immense contributions to these forums make them worthwhile. Never once did I see him behave in anything but a polite manner and he was always contributing something and doing research. If only we could have more people like him around.

If we had a Hall of Fame for Cat Illustrated members Andy would be the first one voted in. I've read hundreds of his posts over the years all the way back to the WildCatFaithful era and no matter how bad things were going he never posted a negative thing about any player coach or administrator. He seemed to be on a mission to do his upmost to push the program forward, and I think in his own way, he did.

And what a class act Austin Macginnis is for his act of kindness, and yes I do believe in these strange karma connections the article alluded to, and you know kickers are the most superstitious people in the world to begin with.:)

Nice Article Mark Story

Thank you OP, this thread makes my day. The old WildcatFaithful family was tight and strong and Andy brought the same spirit to this site. He is missed and he always had information of interest. The moment I saw he had started a thread I went straight to it because he had something I knew I would enjoy reading. May he rest in peace and may his family know how much we appreciated him and miss him.

I didn't personally know AndyPopCat, but he undoubtedly made this board better. I teared up reading that story. I wish more attention would be placed on tbsss kinds of things nationally rather than spending an entire afternoon talking about Grayson Allen tripping people.

I remember him most from Wildcatfaithful. From what I recall he was a regular poster there and would always provide links to tons of different articles, some obscure, talking about UK. I would often frequent that site for his links before a game to read the various articles.

RIP AndyPopCat

I have posted since 98. We used to have get togethers before the spring game and fan day etc. I have met many of the posters on this thread, seems like APC came to a couple. Shame to hear it, was awesome what our players did for him.

If there was a Mount Rushmore for message board/internet KY Football fandom he would be on it. Still get his follow messages on Twitter all the time.

It just shows how unpredictable life is. Hope Andy is in a better place now.

Big Sexy Cat, you are so right. Your promised nothing as far as life expectancy when you enter this world. When you get my age, and some of the other "Old Coggers", that are on here, you start to realize life is short. A lot of us old guys have enjoyed life, treated our fellow man and woman like we wanted to be treated, and will have few regrets when were called home. I love hunting and fishing. Hunting in Montana, Alaska and Kentucky, and fishing in Canada, Alaska, Florida, Mexico and Kentucky.
I try to live every day as if it's my last, cause one day I will be right. When I wake up in the morning, I know it's going to be a good day.

What a good article. I remember him having cancer but I must have missed him passing away. That makes me really sad. I have been reading him posts and links for years. He will be missed! Also MacGinnis is now ever higher on my alltime favorite Wildcats!

Never got to know him in anyway but like most everyone else that posts or just reads on the board, I appreciated all he put on here and knew without a doubt he had to be the biggest UK football fan I had ever been associated with in any way.

Wish I had come here sooner so I could have known APC like most of you. That story...man that choked me up a bit. I'm sure Andy will have the best seats at the game this weekend.

Hug a loved one. forgive the one(s) that have wronged you! life is short! Everybody on this board loves our cats. We don't agree on Alot of things, but that is really OK! In the end, we want to see our young men succeed. God bless you All! and happy New year!
