first of all we didn't do the canceling....that's a home team (HPC) call...……...2nd...the weather has been like this every day this week....so I'm not sure why they just didn't go ahead and reschedule earlier instead of waiting till the middle of the afternoon on game day...………………...this is what happens (every day thunderstorms), when you play football in August.....season starts way too early...…………..

I completely understand that football can not be played in lightning but the overall pussification of this generation, football, etc is a getting a bit ridiculous. Chance of rain? Game cancelled. Chance of snow? School cancelled. WTF
That's because of some of the pussification of some parents. I played in the early 90's, and the only times we didn't play was lightening, like you said, and if it rained heavily all day long. If we could practice, we could play.

Is the general football fan more “pussified”, I’m hearing it termed? Perhaps.

I don’t like a Monday night football game. Not one bit.

But when budgets are tight (and I dare any of you to find a school that says that they have enough money for all their athletic wants), I can’t fault an A.D. for calling of a game that is going to be in the rain. How many other legitimate revenue sports do you have? Basketball... maybe... but not the same.
That’s about it.

So they have to make an unpopular decision. Give it a try sometime... It ain’t easy.

that being said... I would probably have given a shot at the Thursday night option first... or held back my decision about tonight until later in the day. (Lunch time is as late as you can make that call)

Oh, and don’t forget the wear and tear on a football field. It’s gotta last until November you know.

let's see here.reidsville schedules hp central/ a 4A school. they have no jayvee team for starters (a 4A school i remind you). then they postpone game until monday because of a forecast. these storms come and go quickly. so what if you have a delay. now the game will be played on monday, which is by the way the first day of school.just a thought. now think on this will ya.

It should have been moved to Saturday. It’s a lot of other options but Monday was the worst. Central doesn’t bring a big following. I didn’t mind scheduling central, but wish it was another 4a school.

I’m not saying central won’t challenge us because I think they will present challenges

Everyone’s talking about in my day we played in the rain. I don’t doubt you did. But you fail to remember in your day was 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense. In today Era where nearly all the teams in these parts pass the ball 90% of the time and from shotgun formation rain can affect the passing game and can even the playing field. Rain is a nightmare for passing teams

What a dumb comment. You act like passing just started last year. Again, football is a game to be played in all conditions. You adapt. That’s part of the risk of being a pass heavy team. Can you find success in wet weather? Same for a run heavy team. Can you move the chains on third and long to maintain drives against good run D? It’s all part of the game. Your response actually made our point better than most. The pussification of this game and this generation is summed up by your sentiment that it would have been tough for the teams who pass the ball a lot so let’s not let them face any challenge or adversity with the weather, but rather let’s reschedule to help them out.

You don’t need rain to slow down a passing team. Just ask southwest edgecombe.

Let me edit that statement

You don’t need water to fall from the sky to slow a passing team.

Why not Saturday? ... no college games, temps in the 70s. Perfect scenario.

Sorry TGT, but your services as a weather forecaster are no longer required.

In short, you and all of the experts saying this game should have been played Saturday, are herewith terminated as novice forecasters!;)

It was just an honest mistake. Someone just forgot and left the field sprinkler running all week. And who could have thought someone would also have left the water hose on the field running all week.

Just because the Rams were trying to get their passing game going while the mud was up to their shoe tops had absolutely nothing to do with the game.:D:D:D

If you want a weather forecast, look out the window. I was stuck in a golf tournament - 27 holes no less - at Bryan Park Saturday. Forecast was cloudy -- yeah right -- as I said while juggling an umbrella with a golf club.
