Lyles had of gone to Indiana..........Booker to Missouri...........and the twins would have entered the draft last year..........

It's AWESOME to think about how truly special this year has been so far!!!!!

And according to the article I read if several of our players had left, Cal would have gone to the Cavs 10 years 80 million. According to article he came back because they came back.

I've said it for some time. Cal's system is working wonderfully well in large part because of his abilities to coach a young team, and get them to play as a team, but all it will take is one bad recruiting year for it to crumble, at least for the following season. We're exposed to this every year. He's got 3 great recruits lined up this year already, but with the possibility of up to 8 guys leaving after the season he'll have to get more. If he doesn't, well we're not going 31-0 again. This year it all came together perfectly, except for Alex's injury of course. He brought in 4 wonderful freshmen, and a number of guys came back. We've got a team with parallel's to the 2012 one. Great freshmen, and some great veteran's as well. Hopefully both end up with the same result. Then like every year we just have to wait and see what happens.

If the Cat's win it all Cal could leave this year, but if he stays for awhile I think the end of the Cal era will begin when that bad recruiting year comes. And it will. It's inevitable.

To me it's always been an up and down thing......like 2010 we were great, 2011 those guys left and we were good (albeit a final four team).......2012 great again.......2013.......NIT......2014 expected to be great, struggled a bit but turned it on again and made a final four. This year broke that cycle because people came back.

Thing is even in our bad years besides 2013 we were never awful.

Had those players left we STILL would have had Towns, Ulis, Daraki, Alex etc etc. I still think we could have fielded a dangerous tournament team IMO

He was absolutely gone. All you have to do is listen to his mailbags. He was preparing us for his departure. He kept saying, "People need to prepare themselves for when I move on." He truly does what is best for the kids…turned down $80million to come back and help them get better. Now, I think he might just retire here.

If all those guys had gone to other schools and the Twins had declared we would have gotten other great players . First off , if the twins had left there was NO way would have lost Booker . We also would have most likely gotten Blackman . If we hadn't gotten Lyles maybe Pothress doesn't get hurt . Maybe Marcus Lee blossoms with the extended minutes .Who knows ? You can go around and around with "what if's" .

Cool, glad you brought this up. I love playing the what-if game...

What if Pitino had guarded Hill's in-bounds pass? What if Bogans had had a low-ankle sprain instead of a high-ankle sprain? What if Superman was a Nazi? What if Jack had kicked Rose off the piano top and kept the diamond? What if Von Braun had been kidnapped by the Soviets instead of us?What if Luke hadn't practiced bulls-eye-ing womp rats in his T-16 as a kid? What if Bode hadn't gone for the vault?
