Heroes Day at Commonwealth, insulting?

Does anyone else think that having Heroes Day for the worst opponent on the football schedule (just to fill some seats) is insulting to our military and veterans? Maybe I'm just getting old.. I realize on the surface the sentiment is nice, kind of like the "I appreciate your service" comments. Just think it would be more genuine and meaningful if it were for a game against Bama or another highly anticipated opponent. I'm sure I'm in the minority it just kind of strikes me the wrong way. As a fan and a veteran I would rather they not do it at all.

Then don't go. No one is entitled to free tickets to a game.

I just want our heroes to see a winner. Go home feeling good about a win and getting acknowledged all in the same night. Bet those ol dogs gets a whoopin' from the lil' lady tonight.

It's a ploy to put people in the stands, but there are plenty of other things to be upset about.

Is giving them tickets to Alabama even enough? Isn't it insulting that we don't buy them solid gold rocket cars? If we don't offer them the greatest thing ever on earth, then how dare we do anything.

Not asking for anything other than sincere appreciation (not a huge fan of people making themselves feel better by creating a promotion for self interest).

I realize I might be a little old school but like I said previously, I don't really care for our soldiers to be used as a gimmick to put more people in the stand for any game. Just my opinion.

Really it's about the same price as going to Tony's. Had it at Sabatini's in Florence, which is a very nice place. Very good, but nothing crazy. The earth didn't shake.

It's like Little League night at the Reds game. If you can't sell the tickets, you might as well give them away. If the Vets want to take advantage of free tickets and go and be recognized, good for them.
If they possibly have had any training in dealing with water boarding or other torture, they are probably better equipped to watch an UK game than the rest of us.

Since they are closing GITMO they should just transfer all those terrorist to CWS. Lock them in the locker rooms until game day and then strap them to 50 yrd line seats Clockwork Orange-style and make them watch the game. They will tell us anything we want to know by half time of the first game.

Make it so, Mitch & Obama.
