I would say maybe that's a one time deal, but damn, how many times do you hear a recruit call a coach out?

but I wouldn't read too much into it. Urban wouldn't have kept the guy as long as he did if he couldn't coach.

In fact, Tebow didn't like Mullen until he got to school. They had to pull Mullen off his recruitment.

but there is something Meyer didn't like about him to demote him over the course of his time there.

If someone would please rationalize this for me so i can make it to August, i'd appreciate it.

Hevesy coached line at Bowling Green and Utah under Meyer. Addizzo and Meyer were together at Noter Dame. There was no way Meyer could hire him away at those two places. When he got to Fla he could. He brought him in to coach the OL. Hevesy moved to tight ends.

I'm just saying that Meyer wouldn't have brought him to Fla. and Mullen wouldn't have wanted him if he couldn't get it done.
This is no "Croom hiring McCorvey" type deal, I can promise you that.

and hire a buddy? Maybe. And has been noted plenty of times on the sixpack, that can be a costly mistake.

who I had to spank and demote because early on they were young, green horn, overly aggressive, pretentious, cocky sunsabitches. They got their *** spanked and rode the bench, so to speak, for a while. Later on these same employees figured out that there's a better way to do things that accrues to their benefit. They altered their methods and improved significantly. They're still here doing a good job.

People change. People improve. People learn the ropes. People figure out that you catch more flies with honey. People mature with time and experience. The past is not necessarily the best predictor of future action. None of this applies to Croom.

he was just a fallback recruit for Florida in case they didn't get one of their first two choices at TE. If UF had really wanted him, I have no doubt Hevesy would have put more effort into it. I can't imagine a lazy recruiter lasting more than a couple of weeks on an Urban Meyer staff.

Hevesy had been with Meyer for a long damn time, and I'm guessing that if this was a guy they had room for and badly wanted, Hevesy is not dumb enough to only call him once a month.</p>

the kid had always dreamed of going to Florida, and Florida wasn't paying enough attention to him, and he got his feelings hurt and started bad-mouthing people like immature personalities tend to do.
