Guys, and the occasional lady, you really need to get off of the measly $8.33 per month and become a member.

You are missing some really good stuff right now.

Danny has started his daily preview post, profiling and explaining the good, the bad, and the ugly for each team football team.

Matt is constantly posting new material. He just did a really good piece on Overstreet out at Staunton River. If Basketball is your thing, Matt has no offseason. He keeps everyone up to date on all of the latest happenings on that front.

Other staff members post articles on their particular areas of the state from time to time.

I had to get Rod to convince me to join a few years ago. Maybe like you. I was doubtful if I was gaining enough "extras" for it to be worth joining. Without question, I GET MY MONEYS WORTH!

In case you wonder if I get something in return for my endorsement? The answer is absolutely not. I pay the exact same fee you do.

So why do I push you to join? For several reasons.

First, as a business man, I understand that you can't run a business at a loss. You have bills to pay, and you can't do so without income. Not enough income and the business ceases to exit. None of us want that.

Secondly, you become vested in this forum. You feel compelled to offer your insightful opinions, and just as importantly, you don't want to tolerate a poster that gets out of line. The more "members" that ask someone to chill, the more force it has.

And finally, I want you to truly be a part of our unique fraternity. Of course, you don't have to be a paying member to enjoy each other's company on the forum here, or live and in the flesh. I've met so many of you personally over the years that I've lost count. And to a person, I count you as my friend.

One of my goals is to grow our "in person" fraternity around the state. Naturally, playoff games present the best opportunity, but it can be at any event, at any time of the year. Often this is a simple pre-game hand shake, and a few minutes of football talk. This has added so much to my enjoyment of high school athletics around the state. I just want you to experience this same level of enjoyment.

Again, you don't have to be a premium member, (paying), to participate in what I've outlined above. Without question, you are welcome in every aspect, on this forum. But you can be a bigger and better part of the neat stuff going on as a member.

Please join and assure continued success of this terrific forum.

Thank you.

Appreciate the kind words DP! I've literally got 93 audio clips from interviews with coaches and prospects still on my voice recorder (don't worry, they've been loaded to multiple computers)... going to try to get to as many stories as we can before kick-off while also doing our Top 10 countdown...

It'll be a bit trickier since one of our writers has gotten a newspaper gig covering Hokies football, so some of his time will be limited also.

We hope to have another story on a trio of other names to watch out for at Staunton River. Also, should have a story up later in the week on Van Richardson from Salem. We ran one on Viante Tucker about a week or two ago.

I'm also looking to do that weekly chat on HS football if I can figure out a way to make it work.

I heard they (or someone from VA Preps) interviewed the Salem kicker a week ago as well.

Well, I guess it's just you three ladies against all of us guys?

(This is where one of you are supposed to say that it looks like an even match!)

SpartanForce, I look forward to making your acquaintance. I've had the pleasure of meeting Wikki and Salemgal. Perhaps at our game with your Spartans on Sept. 8th.

You haven't met me yet. I couldn't go to the state finals. My son had a wrestling tournament. But can on the 8th.

You are absolutely correct. I remember now. I guess this old man's memory ain't what it used to be.

I hope that the whole big gang of us Virginia Preps Salem and Dinwiddie fans can gather for a few minutes before that game. I always suggest and tease Mike that we gather where he is, because he gets to drive his vehicle in.

Mike also suggested that we, the Dinwiddie group, come early and join the tailgate fun. I would like that very much.

I would love that. I'm sure my old buddy Bleeding Navy will be there. We go way back to when he was a skinny little thing playing fast pitch softball.

He just texted me who you are. I really look forward to meeting you and your whole family.

And if you have any really juicy stuff on Navy, be sure to share it with me. As much grief as he gives me, I need to give him a little payback.

And Navy was once skinny? Good Lord, he sure made up for it!

LOL! I may even have a picture or two.

Looking forward to meeting you. I may have met you at the state finals last year, but it was so cold that our faces and heads were completely covered. Talked to Navy 5 minutes before I even realized it was him.
