Our best player hasn't played a game yet. Our point guard hasn't played but 1 game (watch some of his games at Pitt, he is a good point guard). Take 2 of the top 3 players out from all the teams in front of Ky. In the polls and they would be dramatically different.

I’m not checking out until I see the team complete and rolling. However, I didn’t take it lightly when Calipari wanted to lose all year for a shot at the end and I won’t now either. I’m giving a fair chance but we have records to protect and head to heads to protect. We are supposed to be dominant, not suck and hope for an ending. It’s one of the things that pissed me off so bad about Calipari. It’s not acceptable.

I’m riding with it this year only. To give Mark a fair shot in case this was just a stumble beyond his control. Let’s see what they do complete. Next season however, we need to be dominant tip to tip to protect the house and history. We did that most of history and it’s the NIL era. There’s no excuse in waiting to be Kentucky now.

Pass. It's year 2 with a 22 million dollar roster.

Aberdeen is much better than Lowe and would start over him anyway.

Aberdeen is the better all-around player, but Lowe can do one thing he can’t, and that is get by his man off the dribble and force the defense to collapse. So far neither Aberdeen nor JJ have been able to do that, and it is SORELY missed and needed for our offense to get quality looks against the better teams we’ll play.

The question for me is not that fact that’s it’s a “22 million roster or not. Did Pope and crew not evaluate correctly and overpay for many of this years team…probably. But we do have some talent. Maybe not as much as we thought, but still some there. The main problem I have seen this year is the desire and fight. We have enough talent to compete with most team as long as the effort is there. We clearly did not see that against Louisville or Michigan state. Is that coaching? Is that prima Donna’s making millions and not caring?
I’m hoping JQ can get back and make a difference right away and the team can get tougher and put that effort forward. If not we ain’t going very far come March.

We fell behind a lot last year as well. But we rallied and won a lot of those games.

Still we have to accept last season should have been a disaster and Calipari did what he could to see to it that it was. Problem is, that Arkansas team would be our team. They cannot outperform us and if they do we better go deeper. Stepping into next year it’s number 3. You cannot be average. If so Mark will have to be replaced. If Barnhart is here he’s giving him 4 years minimum though, if not more even if he never gets passed the sweet 16. People should at least prepare to blow the lid off and force a change like the past.

I still think we’re a little early here on Mark. Some of us didn’t like the hire from the get go and it’s clouding this a bit. We just gotta hold the line a little longer.

My gut tells me it’s not going to work, won’t deny that. But Mark is a brilliant guy and the boosters are heavily backing him. He’s adjusting in time, he’ll do that again. Can’t move too quickly. Each case is different, this one might take a second.

JQ isn't our best player. He is the most talented player and has the most NBA upside. That isn't to say he isn't very important to have, but he isn't going to come in and be the star we are missing.

If Pope ends up in the NIT without any top-tier freshmen coming in next year, you cannot convince me in any way that he deserves a 3rd year. I don’t even think boosters will want to give him another chance, especially when you have former players showing their discontent this early in the season. Dissatisfaction will get much louder if the season turns out to be a bust. There’s simply too much money on the line for this season to be a failure without consequences to the staff. At the very least Pope will have to have a massive overhaul to the coaching staff.

You’re just delaying the inevitable by bringing him back. You have nothing to look forward to if Pope has to start over next year of much of the team leaves due to turmoil and no decent recruits joining. It’s a waste of everyone’s time in that scenario.

But we’re not there yet. Hopefully he can turn it around. Winning the SEC and making a deep tournament run can vanquish early season woes pretty quickly. Nobody remembers 2011 or 2014 for their underwhelming in-season performances.

Seems like this is what happens every year. If this, if that. Unfortunately, not much to take from the Tennessee Tech game.

Who says it’s a $22 million dollar roster? I thought the cap was $21 million for the ENTIRE Athletic Department. So, how could just the basketball team have $22 million ?

This figure is thrown around like it’s a fact. It cant be. I’m sure we’re competitive with the elites, but, stop with the $22 million stuff.

JQ is the combination of Tim Duncan, Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell.

I don't know where hyperbolic joke comments like this are coming from as I've seen
literally no one hyping him up that degree.
All I've seen is people saying that he's probably the most physically talented player on the roster and we'd (likely) be better with him on the court than without. An assessment that NBA scouts seen to agree with given his Draft projections.

Go look up the total amount of injuries that UK/ Pope has had going back to the beginning of last season, that involved a player missing at least a single game, and compare it to every other D1 school during that time, and tell me something else isn’t going on!

Spoiler Alert: It’s not even close!

Or don’t, and keep playing the injury excuse card, and our rivals will continue to make UK look like a joke!

Yeah, the last time I checked, a team’s best player typically has a body of work, by actually playing in games, to compare to his fellow teammates, before making such a definitive assessment.

Dude might be Garrison 2.0 for all we know, but since the head coach seems to have some weird fetish with “injuries”, it’s going to a bit more before we can indeed qualify that statement.

All my Louisville friends said he was a really good player. Maybe they just were playing and wanted us to get him but I know he’s a solid college PG at worst. Just defending and his health now are big issues.
