Mitch should be gone tomorrow for this dumpster fire. Back to back horrible football coaches killing what Brooks did and Gillespie. Solid resume there. I don't care how good Cal is.

It took Brooks midway through his fourth seaso. To start clicking. Was you not there for the loss in year three to Ohio?

Please stop pointing to what Brooks did in year 3. Apples and oranges. It's Derek Mason's second year. Apparently he doesn't need 'more time' like our fans always clamor for.

And Mason has the luxury of coaching James Franklin's recruits. Stoops had Jokers to coach. Apples to Oranges.

I am as frustrated as everyone else and also think there needs to be some changes made going nto next year, but we're praising Derek Mason now? The guy that will probably end his first 2 seasons at 3-9 and 4-8.

Well, Mason just got finished coaching circles around Stoops. They also weren't thoroughly dominated by Georgia, Ole Miss and Florida. Unlike UK, they are trending upward and UK is trending downward. Yeah, I think it's a fair statement to praise Mason. Oh by the way, he has a top 15 ranked defense. Stoops, who everyone praised as a defensive stud, can't even sniff the top 50. So, yeah...

Anyone could coach circles around Stoops right now.

I have news for you guys...Football is not the top priority at the U of Ky. Never has been and never will be. I'm still hanging with Stoops but when the job opened, I wanted Leach. I wanted Petrino. The powers that be have other things in mind...fearful that the wrong guy will tarnish the sparkling image of the university.

Would the same criteria apply in other sports?

^IF that's the case, I certainly hope that those among us who support the football and basketball teams go on strike and avoid them both altogether. To neglect football for the sake of basketball, which mind you, only three states in America care about, is asinine. That BS type of thinking needs to outlawed right now.

As I've said, they aren't concerned with winning. It's not a top priority.

But that's ok. The fans are allowing this and sucking barnharts *** every time he tells them "this is all we can do".

Louisville will gladly take a slime ball and WIN. we will watch them have the football program while we are laughing stocks.

We really are a one sport school. And the fans keep it that way.

Had we been looking for a bball coach at the time and the basketball "equivalent of a Petrino" was available, would the admin have dismissed him? No! In fact, right now they'd be painting the picture of a man who'd transformed...just like ul.

We dismissed hiring Cal when BCG was hired because of a perception, so yes, it has happened.

Keep going
Keep going what, I am just saying that yes, we didn't hire a basketball coach because our administration didn't like the smoke surrounding him. It was a mistake, and they realized it. Maybe next time around, they won't make the same mistake with the football team and go after the best coach available.

Do you see how your argument makes Stoops look even worse?

I'm still with Stoops also, but I was hoping for for Jones when Mark was selected. Tennessee got Butch we got Stoops.

So ultimately they did hire a bball coach that had smoke surrounding him....though he has never been proven guilty of anything. Yet for Football, the money maker...the most important sport in the South, we have to have a different standard. Win at bball, follow the rules and be reasonably competitive in Football. Like I said, I will continue to support Stoops, but instead of ul mocking us and ultimately beating us again this year, we could have had their coach on our sidelines, rubbing their noses in it by scoring meaningless touchdowns in the final minute. Coach Stoops may end up being a fine coach; BP is capable of being a premiere coach....sorta like Cal.
Not intending to bash you, but to show EVIDENCE of a double standard.

What exactly did Brooks do? We never competitive in our conference with Brooks. Creative scheduling was responsible for our bowl appearances.

Not bashing at all. I agree they ultimately went after Cal once the President looked into him a little more. I agree 100% that in order for our football program to be successful, you have to take chances.

I bet Mason doesn't burn a timeout on a punt then refuses to use one for a critical fg
