Basketball - both NBA and college - is the absolute worst officiated sport and it isn’t close. You’re telling me not ONE guy on that crew had the balls to call that a walk? He walked TWICE. That entire crew should be dismissed. And now with the rampant gambling, stuff like this is even more egregious.

No. Euro steps and Zero/Gather Steps are not the same thing. You can google zero step for basketball and get caught up.
Thanks, somehow that's the first time I've ever heard anybody mention Zero/Gather Steps. I just googled and watched a video of examples.
The NBA has totally different walking rules than the NCAA...and I still don't understand what is and is not a walk in the NBA.

They need to eliminate the euro step and make these guys play 90s man’s basketball. It’s hurting the youth too. My boy loves James harden and in middle school he’s constantly doing euros and step backs which he’s good at but depending on who’s officiating it’s called a walk half the time. Makes me so upset the inconsistency. All an opposing coach has to do is yell it’s a walk and it gets called. We work on this constantly in the gym but it does no good. I hate the euro

I would love to see players these days have to play a game by the old or original rules. Palming and carrying the ball is out of control these days too. when guys put the ball on their hip and take about 3 or four steps, how is that not carrying? 100% of the point guards bringing the ball up the court these days dribble by putting their palm on the bottom of the ball and rolling it over. Naismith is rolling in his grave.

I think the euro step is fine when done correctly. Simply don’t allow a 3rd step. Thats fair.

The modern day NBA BLOWS! Absolute GARBAGE product! By the way, Giannis walked before he even dribbled. He picked up his pivot well before he tried putting the ball on the floor. YUCK!

Today's players will be known for playing against travel agents and theater majors. No offense to either of those professions (well, maybe the theater bunch).

Even switching pivot feet is mostly allowed now. The NBA is a complete and utter joke. I use to enjoy watching it but cant stand it now. I only watch Timberwolves games when I can and some playoffs.

It's the NFL flag football rule change that NBA has moved to.....pretty much not the core game many are used to watching.

The problem with banning the Euro-step is that it takes the exact same amount of steps as a regular legal layup, just with a hesitation and/or change of direction before putting the last foot down. The only way to ban it would be to ban the hesitation and I don't think any of us would want to see an SEC referee determining whether or not there was a hesitation. Kentucky wouldn't even be allowed to dribble with the game on the line.
