Any news on situation at Hickory High?

Looks like a dead post since nobody put anything on it since close to New Years Eve. I look for them to be at least decent if they have a super offensive minded coach take over. Here's the next question, were is Helms going??

Helms is carrying a lot of baggage, and it would surprise me if any principal would touch him now.

OC at East Burke with Tom Brown. I don't see this happening.

The unofficial word is that the school board will get the name to vote on at next Monday's meeting.(1.26.15)

Nothing against Forrest Blake but I hope he doesn't get the head coach position. I would like Blake to continue as head wrestling coach and revive Hickory High as a good wrestling school again. It's been way too many years of absolute puke as a program. The wrestling program would improve the football program.

People are saying former HC John Worley is coming back to the program in some capacity as an assistant. Time will tell.

I knew the dad but not Allen. Certainly not a big time hire at all. Did Hickory hire a yes man who understood the political and social status parents who put a lot of pressure on coaches to play their sons. Let's hope not or it will be more of the same. Best of luck to the Red Tornados and hopefully a return to the years of glory when money and pressure didn't dictate a starting position.

Hate to see HHS take such a large tumble is such a short amount of time. Don't really know anything about AW, but if Godevilsgo says he's a mediocre higher, have to believe his knowledge of HHS to be accurate.

mediocre is being kind. I know he didn't have a lot to work with at Draughn but I
saw nothing that impressed me. Good luck to Hickory!
