High school class "reclassification"

Can someone explain to me how players in high school can "reclassify" to another class Is this a matter of them graduating early? The whole "prep school after high school" thing still confuses me also and may be a factor. Why don't we see this in other sports?

The defensive end, Casey Rogers, is going to prep school right now. He spent 4 years in high school before that.

big in basketball, it gives them one more year to grow and mature i guess.

When I was going to school back in the stone age, kids that thought they were good at sports would have their parents hold them back a year Not a bad idea if you were one of the youngest in a class. Give you another year to mature.
