Highs: Scottie looks better than ever. Law more assertive on offense. Pardon is better. Ash played more quality minutes.

Lows: Skelly is still a foul machine. Dererk struggling with his FTs.

Meh: BMac had a quiet game. Brown doesn't look any better. Gaines is a Freshman. Rap can't even break into the rotation. Falzon is hurt.

Gaines appears to be the most physically ready freshman we've had since probably Drew Crawford. He certainly looks the part - excited to see him develop.

We really could have used Falzon tonight. Loyola packed the paint in the second half and we couldn't hit a three to spread them out. Lindsey had a few big ones late, and Law chipped one in. But we were definitely missing that angle.

Good summary! Mac was off his game, but we know he is elite, so I expect a better game going forward. As a team, we need much better defense. Gaines and Brown, and Skelly with his traveling, did not impress me. Scottie saved us.

Dererk will settle down. His FT form looks better, more relaxed.

Completely disagree about Brown.

I think the coach was letting Gaines get the nerves out in the first game. Significant that he was put back in late with the score knotted up.

Ash, I thought, looked pretty good. Would like to see his handle now with some in his grill.

Highs: the most athletic team NU has ever fielded. We have a lot of guys who can score when needed. We have a lot of guys who are playing above the rim. We have a lot of guys who can throw it down with power. We have a legitimate big-man power game with, not one, but two guys who can score in the paint.

Lows: new arena takes some getting used to. Couldn't hear Gary on the PA from my seats. Anemic fans brings out my long-time cries that "Northwestern deserves a better quality of fan".

I like how we fed Pardon down the stretch (got to hit his FT’s though). I would like to see more of that, but with Pardon being more of a faciliatator- more of an inside/outside game. Very big to have a guy who can be a double threat in the post when you need a basket in a key possession.
