Mark Stoops was hired after the 2012 season. So were lots of other current Power Five coaches. I decided to take an in-depth look at how each of those hires has panned out, writing a good bit on each, and including a summary as well as a lesson that we should take, when it comes to coaching searches and hires.

Thank you JRowland. This is an interesting article. Go Cats!!

Really good and interesting read.

I'd disagree with a few things, biggest probably being Bielema at C+. He's going to win 8/9 games this year (including destroying East champion Florida) with a first-year quarterback ... third straight 7+ win season in the toughest division in football. That's pretty incredible for someone who inherited a tire fire in Fayetteville after the Petrino scandal and season of purgatory under John L. Smith.

As for Dykes, worth noting he's going from Jared Goff at QB to a mere mortal in Davis Webb this year. And their schedule is a bear (no pun intended); four straight losses, but all to Top 25 teams. But that defense is horrible, no doubt.

I'd probably put Stoops in the C range, given the lack of really any notable wins in four years (2014 win over a 7-6 South Carolina team the closest) and how bad the SEC East is. But C is a definite improvement from where he was in September ... when he was trending towards F.
