So I wasted the last half hour looking at "hipster memes" (time well spent) and find them to be hilarious. I encounter these groups from time to time and it always seems they're in competition with someone to have the most ridiculous attire, conversations, and actions.

I often wonder how they would fair in a different era. But for laughs on a topic that is discussed all the time, here are some good pics.

So yeah, I posted a ton of memes. The Internet is all just message boards, pictures of cats ,memes, and pornography so I figured I'd help out with at least some of those.

So I visit Whole Foods - Domain one cold, blustery day back in November. They offer 40 beer styles on draft and hundreds more bottles/cans in coolers located behind the bar area. I mean, beer heaven. One cute little gal sits there with a 6-pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon drinking away. I ask her why she isn't sampling some other brews. Her response: "I'm hip, man".

True story.

They'd fit in as emo's in the aughts, goths in the 90's, new wave / punks in the 80's, disco ducks in the seventies, hippies in the 60's, teddy boys & beatniks in the 50's, original hipsters in the 40's, and swing kids & flappers before that.

It's not a hard concept.

"What'd you say? I couldn't hear you because I was churning butter while playing my colonial fiddle to synch up with the latest Neutral Milk Hotel album."

you mean free range, all natural, organic butter from cows that were fed all natural and organic grains of the highest quality and had pillows for beds in a heated and air conditioned barn

I like how you guys are so removed from culture that you consider me a hipster.

If shitting your pants is cool, consider me John Vanderslice.

Having a European soccer player as your avatar would shoot you to #2 with a bullet (behind the tie-die guy from Austin) if we're tallying hipster scores, tootse.

When did anyone refer to you as a hipster?

"So far removed from culture". Riiight.

It's been bandied before, I do drive a FIAT tbt.

Not recognizing that the same subcultures permutate as the pendulum swings indicates you are pretty removed, IMHO.

lol, your need for acceptance while still wanting to be labeled a hipster is funny.

A fiat. :joy:

Lame analogy.

Hipsters are terrible and your attempt at a clever put down= 3/10.
Not a clever put down. Not clever at all. Stating a known fact. The guy loves wrestling. People who love wrestling are the worst in my book. Right up there with nascar and huntin' n fishin'. I can at least have interesting conversations with hipsters.

Work with one.

I don't know if it's just me getting old, but this cat is odd and his taste in everything is terrible. Wears bowties with western shirts with tight denim capri pants and canvas shoes. Beer snob. Food snob. Wine snob. Music snob. Movie snob. Piss poor employee.

Went into one of those hipster bars, with supposed good beer. I tell the bartender I want something like those summer shandy Lienenkugils makes. An ale with some citrus. He says I have pbr.

It's just people trying to be different from what they consider mainstream. There have always been people like that, there always will be. I for one think it's cool as these people generally bring some cool trends to the mainstream. One thing I love is wearing hats (not ballcaps) and I didn't start till a couple years ago when I thought they looked good on hipsters I saw. Some of you all have no tolerance for anything different than yourself.

By the way no need to knock on wrestling either. Every single person on this thread has watched and thoroughly enjoyed wrestling for at least some length of time in their life.

I got a cease and desist from Collegiate Licensing corp, so the 8 shirts turned out to be a limited edition of two.

I don't really care about being accepted and don't know where you get that. I post in GYERO occasionally, but it's most dog whistle stuff that only a few people enjoy and the rest lament.

Being self-important comes from being smarter than 90% of this board, which I know to be true.

I moved back to KY after 8 years in NYC, lived in Alphabet City, and spent most of my other time in WBurg, East Village, LES, etc. those guys are hipsters according to Hoyle.

Now, I see guys in my office here (main Cincy) get teased for being a "hipster" and they're not even close. That's what I meant by removed from "the culture." I meant all culture, not hispter culture.

Ole 500 Days of Summer here hijacked the thread.

I want to talk more about dirty Salvation Army clothes hipsters buy to strategically show how little they care but in actuality really care about how they look but just want the image of being "ironic" out of a desperate need for attention.

Although living amongst hipsters is annoying due to their self-absorbed, abrasive and formulaic fashion statements... They're like bees. They sting but their honey is sweet.

Because of hipsters, I can now get artisanal espresso on the streets of Manhattan - better than in any bistro in Italy. Now you can wander into specialty shops and get yourself better pour over coffee, brisket barbecue, microbrewery beer, pies, cookies, vegetables, chocolate, cheese, olive oil...and salt. Yes-salt.

I hope the hipsters take over the American automobile industry so that there'd be a friggin domestic car worth buying.

The problem is having to interact with the fedora-wearing, tattooed, facially-haired douchebaggery.

You ain't a hipster if you didn't live in Bushwick. You're safe. Enjoy Cincy.
