If what I read is accurate, we signed four of the top 80 players nationally for the first time ever. When recruit evaluations are finalized, we will have three 5*. Even if those numbers are slightly off, against the backdrop of our disaster season, there’s no way to look at this class as anything but an enormous win.

Now all Beamer needs to do is announce a solid OC hire, and suddenly things don’t look all that bad.

This is a good class. All Gamecock fans should be pleased. I have been critical of Beamer in the past. But not regarding this class. I have praised before. When the East Carolina OC seemed to be our OC guy, I praised that possibility. Critical 100% of the time or praising 100% of the time just has no credibility. The team with the best talent does not always win. If your team has good enough talent, superior coaching can get you over the goal line. This class fits that bill.

By the way, the Utah OC mentioned as a possibility at OC would be a good hire, imho.

Thanks for posting this information. It’s nice to get some positive news. As I have said before, wading through all the negative comments on this site is exhausting. Obviously many people who post here can’t find anything they like about our current football program. I get it. We were 4 and 8 and were expecting being light years better. Still we always seem to fill Williams Brice with towel waving fans every week. Maybe they’re right and Beamer isn’t the right guy. However he sure can recruit. Hopefully this will eventually get us where we all want to be.

I don’t follow recruiting heavily. Just check rank periodically and at the signing days. Yes this is a very good class all things considered. Seasons like this usually result in a few decommitments. Maybe there were some? But if so still a good group. And we’ll see what the portal brings.

It’s a great class. The only reason we are ranked in the 20’s is because we only signed 15, but it’s a solid 15. This frees up more money to spend in the portal, which is where we have to hit it big. These freshman won’t make a mark next season, for the most part. We have to, as well every other contender, fill the gaps with portal players for next year. We have gaps that need to be filled now. But all that said, like the class we signed. Lost none and flipped one. Even the haters need to admit Beamer brought this class home.

Agree. I've been knocked by some for being critical all the time, but it's not true. When there are good things to comment on, I'm at the front of the line for that. This season mostly sucked, from start to finish. I doubt you could put together at 10-minute highlight tape of the whole season. But this is an objectively good class that addresses some big needs.

It was much needed injection of enthusiasm following the miserable end to a miserable season and an OC search that doesn't seem to be going anywhere, but I'm willing to chalk this up to the Blackwell situation and signing day. We should expect to hear something before Sunday.

It was a great day yesterday, but 2026 still hinges on the OC hire.

Stewart saw the difference from year one to year two, when he went from the "other guy" to the focus of the blocking scheme.

Having a complimentary piece on the line is crucial.

If so, better not extend his contract nor give him a pay raise. He needs to put back-to-back good seasons together. 7 is mediocre. When you get paid what Beamer is being paid, 8 wins should be the minimum.
