"Hit the road, Lamont" . . . agree or disagree?

let's hear your opinions.
1) He's not going anywhere
2) Disagree. You don't fire a coach in year 3 especially after tying the school record for most wins the year before
3) Obviously the team has been a disappointment. The chemistry just hasn't worked and for whatever reason, nobody has risen up in crunch time. Sometimes players just have to make plays. How many one-possession games has this team lost vs. really good teams, not because of bone-headed coaching decision but because guys aren't doing what they are supposed to do: missed free throws in final seconds, turnovers in final possessions.

That being said, will next year be more of a hot-seat year if the team continues to flounder? Yes.

Your points are way too logical for the majority of this crowd.

We'll also be losing our best player (and only good player) to the draft this year when CMB goes pro, which is a lock. He's lock for the first round and has had projections in the top 10.

I'll believe this when I see it. IMO we have him another year. In time we will see who is correct.

There is zero basis for this claim.

But it sounds good, so people will agree.
Some people were around when McGuire was here. Some people sat in McGuire's office at the Coliseum and spoke with him, Buck Freeman, and Donnie Walsh. Some people were on a basketball court at the same time as were John Roche and Tom Owens (shaking at the knees and scared to take a shot, but on the court nonetheless.) His vibe reminds some people of McGuire and yeah, it sounds good.

oh, lol, so it's all based on the very quantifiable "vibes". gotcha.

I'll stick with the much less quantifiable wins/losses.

Absolutely. Why don’t you compile some stats and analysis and we can forward to the new AD. He can hit the ground running👍

If we let him go, who you gonna get? Except for McGuire, men's BB at My Carolina is a tough job.
We have some big name coaches lined up. Maybe coach Cal can turn us around immediately? Can't miss!! Wait, didn't he start off 1-6 in conference this season with some great transfers?

Some of these posters have all the answers. Many are the same ones that were asking for Beamer's head earlier this season. They are great monday morning quarterbacks. They simply complain about everything as if they have the simple solution. Fire Tanner, fire Beamer, fire Paris. It's that simple. This will solve all of our issues.

There is a difference between excuses and reasons...... I am not shocked at all that you don't know the difference. Not one bit.
I have coached for 20+ years and the majority of reasons are excuses. Simple as that.

Johnny- why are you late for practice? "I was stuck in traffic". Reason in tour mind, and excuse to the majority of folks with common sense.

Coach K- why did you struggle in years 2 and 3. "Well sonny, back in my day, losing was acceptable because we were building something. Idiots today think you don't build and the reasons of yesteryears are now excuses. Thank God our excuses were considered reasons back in the day".

Straight from coach K. You were right after all.

I am concerned when I watch us play. We don't look well coached a lot of the times and I can't say I understand some of the decisions that Paris makes. I don't think he should be fired this season but if this continues next year (and I believe it will) fans will completely check out and that will be the nail in the coffin. I'm hoping that Paris will grow from this and turn it around next year because we all win if he does.

Lamont has been as bad as the players this year.

I don't think he should be canned yet, but this season casts just as much doubt as last season gave reason for optimism. At this point, the evidence supports more doubt than optimism. Everyone knew we'd have a dip this year, but nobody expected us to absolutely crater to be the worst team in the league, so this is not simply an overreaction to just not being as good as last year. We are unequivocally awful this year.

Will Muschamp had a really good Year 2 as well.

Ya'll may not like it but when you make a hire, it's for a minimum of 4-6 years. An AD is going to look at the progess or lack thereof after 4-6 years before cutting a coach loose.

***** all you want. Continue to whine, kick & scream like a 2 year old . Paris is here a minimum of one more year (likely 3 more years). Get over it. Stinks not to get your way but that's how these things work.

Suggestions- ***** and moan to the new AD, rather than pump your chest on a message board.

If 2025/26 is a repeat of this season, no way Paris is here for the 26/27 season.

If my math is correct, 26/27 is his fourth season. Personally, i think he gets another year or two after next but you very well could be correct. My point is that he is here another year regardless of this season.

Yeah he's definitely here next year, and I think he deserves that shot to get things turned back around. He did coach one of the best seasons in school history last year, but that loses its luster sandwiched between two of the worst seasons in school history. Granted the SEC this year is absolutely loaded, with a shot at getting 14 teams in the tournament. But that's still an indictment on Paris for not getting the right guys here to build on that success.

If Tanner were still here, perhaps Paris would get another mulligan if next year is a disaster, but the new AD, I have to imagine, would want to get his own guy in if Paris continues the current trend.

You got it backwards. Reasons of yesteryear were valid reasons. Building something. Integrity. Loyalty.

Those reasons are no longer valid with NIL and the portal that were not in place in yesteryear. In fact, with the NIL and portal it is infinitely easier to "win now" and yet we're not. The question is why? (Insert excuses)

The wild card in all of this is the "new AD" - IMHO he was hired to do a job and he will want to leave his mark, one way or the other. Time is ticking as they say.....doing nothing isn't a good look and low hanging fruit is in trouble. If we keep on losing, I suspect LP will be gone at the conclusion of the season.

Again, dude did not properly prepare for a historically good SEC conference, but everybody else did. How TF do you let that happen Lamont??

Bookmarking this thread so that when we lose out and the new AD pulls the trigger and replaces LP, I can say "I told you so."

I don't care how many false declarations you want to make. Win. Now. Or there's the door..... no excuses.

Stay or go, it doesn't really matter that much to 90% of fans as long as football is good.

I may get roasted for it, but I'm one of those. I would shut down mens and women's basketball in a heartbeat if it meant spending more on football.
