Maybe even 3 or 4 years......
Its always a risky proposition to forecast wins and losses leading up to any season and its especially dangerous to predict success when looking ahead to future years but the Husker's schedule for 2020 and 2021, right now, look much tougher. So it is possible (I would say likely) that Nebraska will make progress in terms of talent upgrade and improved player performance yet still finish with a relatively disappointing W-L record.

Yes, that's quite possible. The upside is that we're in the west division. That helps a lot......if we can really improve (and I believe we will!) we should be able to start taking control. Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan will be the next step is my guess.

The 2020 schedule is pretty wild in how it swings from manageable to a man-eater in the last five weeks.
We open with four home games against Purdue, Central Michigan, South Dakota State and Cincinnati, followed by @Northwestern, Illinois, and @Rutgers.
That's a good chance at a 6-1 or maybe even a 7-0 start.
The finish (with no bye weeks):
  • 10/31 @Ohio State
  • 11/7 Penn State
  • 11/14 @Iowa
  • 11/21 @Wisconsin
  • 11/27 Minnesota
Might feel a little like 2016. I hope not.

That four game stretch is murderous. You could end up so physically ground down by the time you get to Minnesota that you're fighting for your life there.
