Will the agents shop them around to other teams if they feel that their clients didn't get a fair shake here?
We may feel everyone got the playing time they deserved but who knows what the players are feeling by end of the season.
It’s way to early to tell who will remain here after the season when this one is just getting started

The f's wrong with some y'all? Late Kal it was we don't need top freshman anymore with portal.. Now its back to we're missing on top freshman.. 😂🤣 Bunch wusses need make mind up..

I agree… especially when you look at the teams that are winning titles. Isn’t that the goal? And how many of those teams are led by freshmen in the last decade?

I think Chandler, Noah, Moreno, Kam and Jasper Johnson will be the core of next years team. That's a solid group to build around. Get a 5 star kid and a solid 4 star with potential, bring in one star and a couple of solid rotational players in the portal and thats a darn good basketball team
That’s a decent core, but we still have the same defensive issues as this year with that core. Now that could seriously improve over the year but we would lose our best defenders off this team for sure.

This is pope's first real year of getting freshmen. Last year was all transfers.. This is his first year coaching 5 star players... Other coach's will use that against him... But our revenue share and nil should help, but it gets to the point are these players coming just for the money, or because they think the school and coach can help them get to the NBA... And that's the thing players are not sure of yet... Can Pope get you to the NBA. That's what any superstar is worried about..... The fringe 5 star high 4 star, most likely is looking at who pays the most. And it's going to be hit or miss with those guys, as if they put the effort into getting better, or just here for a quick payday.

Depends, man. We aren’t struggling on defense due to straight line drives, we are struggling due to fixable things like telling a teammate to switch rather than both guys end up on the same guy. I for one, am ecstatic at the prospect of bringing a bunch of dudes back and yes we can improve dramatically on defense this year and next by keeping dudes here

There really is no excuse why Kentucky doesn’t sign a top 5 freshman every single year. Kansas manages to do it, Duke gets multiple, heck even North Carolina comes close to doing it. Why is it such a challenge for a program with such power. Pope and UK keeps getting punked by SEC football schools. Something has to change.

There is also Lowe, Dioubate, Jelavic, Hawthorne, and Garrison. I think we should probably expect to lose a few of the potential returners – although I couldn’t guess which ones are more likely at this point. You have any early suspicions about which of the potential returners are more likely to look for greener pastures?
Would love to get Jelavic and Hawthorne back. I think the other 3 are gone.

It's a fun system to play in if you are a system player. What elite player will call himself a system player?

This is undoubtedly having an effect. Its a mid major offense. Great for creating baskets for shooters that cant create their own. Problem is it doesn't let elite guys showcase their ability for the nba.

So even if we offer more, they're going to suffer overall because their draft stock wont be the same.

I don't think that ever gets fixed. We'll just have to win with marginal portal guys or not win at all.

We should get MoD back; 6'7" fours don't usually get drafted in the first round. He'd most likely get drafted late 1st or more likely 2nd round so it makes sense for him to come back.

If I was Pope I would offer every single player Danny Hurley offers. UConn can’t sign them all. Then if you get a few, at least you know you’re getting kids that want to compete for a title, not just get paid.
You need to site your source. That’s clearly page 253 of recruiting for dummies. 😂😂

sorry for all the other empty post, technical difficulties and Incant delete them.

I’m not buying we’re offering more and they’re going elsewhere. $ talks to these guys. I’m not buying we offered T Kinney more and he went to Kansas. We’re being out spent. I’m not buying 22 million roster and it’s more than everyone else. Duke probably had that amount tied up in Cooper

Maybe Bill Self threw in a couple cans of Dapper Dan hair product and a couple of lapdances. Would be on brand.

It doesn’t matter if you think that we didn’t spend $22 million. What matters is that is what the media is reporting and everyone takes it as fact. It’s a little bit delusional, and frankly a bit conspiratorial, to refuse to believe what is being reported by connected insiders.

As it stands Pope has a $20 million roster. If you don’t think it is worth it then that is your opinion. I also don’t think it’s worth that much so the most reasonable take is that Kentucky massively overpaid for a roster that most other coaches wouldn’t have paid $10 million for.

I don’t believe most stuff that comes from media. The point was I don’t believe we are outbidding everyone and not getting players.

Sigh...its November 17 lol
lol I’m take into account his first two classes as well. Although all the freshman were taken in his first class by the time he got here.

Off the top of my head Wilson last year was a big miss. One we led on for a good while. I want to say we were the favorite for Yessoufou who went to Baylor. He would have this team looking much different. There was also Ament. For this class there was Crowe who was supposed to have been hand delivered. Now it looks like Holt is another miss and Rippey is likely going elsewhere. Collins was supposed to be ours and now he’s pushed back all of a sudden. So Pope is basically down to Stokes or bust.

Man even Ament would have been a huge addition to this team. Personally I think we should have let Oweh go pro or offered him way less money to where he would transfer and grabbed Ament or Wilson.

Ik ill catch hell for that statement.

Ament is looking really nice over there at Tennessee along with the point guard we went after. Like really good like a 6’10 point guard that can literally do everything. Kind of like Wilson. We got turf toe all American instead.

I'm not trying to argue with you but those are Kentucky boys.... Can Pope recruit Nationally and get the top HS players..... This is where we are still in the wait and see mode because he hasn't gotten one yet....
Alot of people used to ***** because we didn't get Kentucky boys here and now we ***** because we do

Nobody is upset that we have two Kentucky boys. People are simply wondering if Pope can land talent outside of Kentucky. There won’t be a highly rated guard and center every year from Kentucky. He will need to land Jasper and Moreno again next year but they won’t be from Kentucky. The one guard has already committed to Kansas and well we are in wait mode on Stokes.

So it’s not dang we don’t want Kentucky boys it’s dang there isn’t enough Kentucky boys and you will have to go recruit somewhere else. Will Pope be able to do that is the question. How do you get that fans are not wanting Jasper and Moreno?

was there ever a time in all of Cals years that he has a top guard and center from Kentucky? Pope lucked out on that and it won’t be like that every year.

Kentuckiy's struggle to sign players is very puzzling. We have a fun offense to play in, a storied program, and according to reports we are offering more money than other schools.
It’s the campus life and area. There’s much more to see and do in other states. That’s what the kids are saying 🤷

Makes sense if you are a for sure one and done and will only be in college 6 months. You would want to enjoy your short amount of time.

now I have a serious question because I haven’t been to all of these other campuses and cities.

I’ve always heard how there’s absolutely nothing in Kansas. Just fields after fields so is their campus in a big city with lots to do?
Is Duke and UNC in big cities? Is UCONN in a big city? Baylor Michigan BYU?
I’m seriously asking.
