...has a sweet shot and touch for a big man.

He's going to be special.

BB sorely needs muscle/poundage both below and above his waist to take his game to the next level, especially when playing in the B1G. The weakest part of his game is that he gets booty-bumped around by the B1G's bigs all too frequently. He's getting better by the game at shot trajectory recognition and positioning himself better to make the 'bound; but when some 250-plus behemoth like Swanigan or Haas get their hips into BB down low, he looks like a rag doll. If he can gain that necessary quality b-ball weight in the off season while retaining his current touch, he's gonna be a force to be reckoned-with in future seasons.

So he looks like every other Big Ten big playing against Haas and Swanigan....

Your reply has a sliver of truth to it; but it doesn't apply to more than half of the b-ball teams in the B1G. Minny, Wisky, Indy, Mary, even the Bug-Eaters, State Penn, Ill-Annoy and the Hogeyes have the 6'10" / 250#-plus types on their roster who have the size ands game to hang tough when defending the bigs playing for Per-Don't and their bump-&-grind playing style. BB will get there. Unfortunately, 2017 is his baptism by fire and he's getting pummelled. One always has to pay the price for one's education.

I guarantee next year with an offseason of a college weight training regimen, he will look quite a bit different than he does this year.

Wondering how much Benson and Pardon will be on the floor at the same time next season. Does anyone think that Pardon could play some at PF?

My advice to Barrett would be to train with Gavin Skelly and his PT in the offseason. Skelly looks like he put on 20 pounds of pure muscle compared to last season. If the results that CC/staff have gotten in developing their players since starting three years ago are any omen, Barrett might be first-team all big ten by his senior year.

It is called being a true frosh playing against grown men. Good thing about true frosh is they grow up

This is the most unassailably true cliche that I can recall reading on here in a while. Must be true then...

He's gonna be fine. Big body. Baby Darrly Dawkins. What's not to like?

With bigs it boils down to three things -

raw athleticism

technique/skill

the Pete Rose factor.

I don't see him as a slam dunk in any of these factors. He's going to have to work and work hard

But most importantly I don't see him as lacking in any of them either! and I see him as likely to develop in all of them.

Don't forget that he playing with Pardon. Pardon is the king of motor for the 5 position at NU. I do not remember a better motor at 5 than Pardon. Does anyone here? I can't think of one.

So Bennett has a nice bar to meet and try to exceed. I think he'll meet it. And I like his chances in the weight room and in the skills. I see a fine player next year. A damn fine one in 2. And a beast in 3.

I have never heard of the Pete Rose factor.

I thought maybe it meant that if Benson takes to wearing Aqua Velva, he'll score with the ladies?

The Pete Rose factor

I gotta say, I never understand why Rose was banned for life. It's not like he bet against the Reds ever. In my line of business, this is called putting skin the game and is welcomed.

Now, if he bet against the Reds and shaved points or something like that, that's a totally different story.

He bet on the Reds only for selective games. That is the equivalent of betting against them in other games. Saving relief pitchers for the games he was betting on, that sort of thing. What he did brought the integrity of the game into question. Steroids users changed the nature of the game, but there was never any question that they were trying to win every game. With Rose, that was brought into question. That's why gambling on games you are involved in is the worst crime you can commit against baseball..

And, TheC, what the hell? No one wants to see that.

Uncle! You win. I take it back. All I mean was that I love his hustle.
