The first time I returned from Alaska for a homecoming game on a Class Reunion Weekend the Gridiron Wildcats broke their record setting losing streak. I am back here in Evanston again for this week's homecoming game with High Hopes of seeing our recent losses interrupted. In subsequently attended games, more often than not the Alaska karma has evidenced wins. (FWIW, the reporting from the Homefront is that three moose showed up in our yard yesterday morning so there is that too for those who believe in the magic of the moose.)

Here are some photos from last night as the homecoming reunion events kicked off with a lecture and panel discussion at Deering led by University Archivist Kevin B. Leonard on the subject of archival photography at Northwestern and Deering itself lit up in Purple.

Now, with a win, to get the University clock back to glowing Purple as well.

How ‘bout a freakin’ moose pic? We can really use one!

There was actually an additional moose sighting at the house, but it veered away from the security camera and my camera(s) are here with me in Evanston. Here are some added shots of fall colors on campus and the pregame reunion and homecoming events from Friday.

Very cool. David is a longtime mentor and friend but he told stories about his journalism career that I've never heard and I've known him for years through the industry.
