the Little Brother luncheon.."Our goal is to win the National Championship."
Is Howie Scnllenburger still above ground ? Wouldn't you need to beat Clemson and Florida Stateand maybe Houston to have a realistic chance at that statement..[banana][banana][banana]The Johnny Unitas statue is covering his eyes..What next Bob oh I get it Lamar Jackson will win the Heisman Trophy..[roll]...There is some real humor down there..:chairshot:

I loathe UofL and everything about them, except their baseball coach who appears to be a decent person. But don't kid yourself, their football team will be really good this year, really really good.

I would love to have Jackson here. Then those 7-8 predictions might have some real bite to them.

Screw em.Their hype is hilarious...Petrino is a snake oil salesman. if you think they are a legitimate contender for a Title..you are on LSD..

Well, if he were completely honest he might say keeping all of our transfers out of jail, but that is more on jurich's shoulders, and he has had a lot of practice and does a hell of a job.

What is the latest on the Minardi Hall episode, is there some way jurich can just throw a few million of the taxpayer's and students money at it and make it go away, like Thug U did?

Hart the latest to resign at TU, so now I guess we will never get to hear him explain his remarks about athletes being treated like all the other students at TU when someone brought up the EIGHT THUGS that beat up and kicked TWO people while down with ZERO CHARGES (or lawsuits) filed.

What a bargain that TWO POINT FIVE MILLION was, and only half of it came from the athletic department..

There is very little in the way of complimentary things I have to say about Patrino, Jurich or the UofL program in general, but I will give them credit for one thing, they seem to always shoot for the stars. They believe in what might be possible, and don't want to settle for mediocrity like some of our fans do. I know we laugh at some of their fans and even the coaches for statements like this and in our minds it seems ridiculous. But while you have two teams that, on paper talent wise are not that far apart, they talk about national championships, while we are wringing our hands over 6 wins.

If I could point to one thing in my life that I would do over it would be to set my goals higher and to believe anything is possible. That's my attitude with Kentucky football - I will always continue to believe there is no limit to what we can achieve. It may be an unpopular thing to say, but there's a lesson to be learned here.

Not a UL fan but they have a very good program and Petrino may be a jerk of epic proportions but the man is an outstanding football coach. I have a hard time making a big deal out of coach speak until we beat him.

You're buying into the hype. They aren't going to sniff a national championship in our lifetime.

I agree with this. They are an abominable institution, but they do set high goals in every sport.

Ill say this, pitrino , despite all his issues, knows football. If hes making this sort of statement, i have to think hes either a. Under some serious pressure, or b. Is totally losing it, or c. Believes he has a really good team. I have a hard time believing they have the necessary depth to roll through their schedule unscathed, but if they manage to keep key players healthy, they may be better than we want to admit.

You have to hand it to UL, they always have dreamed big. Even if it is unrealistic dreams, they have always dreamed big. This goes back to Howard's famous statement of " A collision course with a National Championship, the only variable is time". Maybe that is why starting with Howard they have always had a better football program than UK more often than not.

UK's dream seems to be to just win 6 games a year to achieve that lofty "bowl eligibility". Go to some awful bowl every other year and that will keep the fan base content. That is what really matters to the UK AD and administration. Big dreams in football certainly have never came out of Lexington. They have basketball for that.

This is the difference in football culture between UK and UL that has existed over the last 30 years. If all you aspire to be is adequate, then that is all you will be.

I remember 15 years ago we were laughing at their talk of ever making a BCS game or being in a BCS conference. Can't laugh at them about that anymore. Now we are laughing at National Championship talk. Ugh...

It's all hyperbole..uavel will not climb over Clemson or Florida State as Howard said.."the only variable is time" Honest Bob won't live long enough to see a National Title..At least UK in the toughest Conference in the NCAA realizes our honest expectations.We don't switch conferences like folks change underwear..
After uavel went ofor 3 last season..the uavel fans bailed out..UK football fans are loyal..[winking]

Honest Bob is not the same coach he was 5-10 years ago. He has cost his team some games in the last 2 year.
UL ain't playing for a NC anytime soon.\

Pfttt. Neckbrace won't even sniff an ACC division title, let alone a National Title. It's only a matter of time anyway until he gets involved in some sort of scandal again. Banjo and Belk bowls are his ceiling, now that he's not playing in a high school league.
