Hopewell defeated Matoaca tonight by a score of 37-0. This was a statement win for Hopewell putting them at 6-2 for the season. Hopewell flipped the script tonight and instead of the air attack they went with the ground attack and ran for almost 500 yards in the game.
I have been saying this all season. Hopewell is the real deal. Their only losses were to Hanover and Dinwiddie. They should make a deep run in the d-3 playoffs.

I was shocked by this game. Not so much that Hopewell won, but that they shut out Matoaca.

I open myself up for critisim with what I'm about to say. But, before you shoot me, I'm a believer in Hopewell's chances for a deep run in the playoffs. But Matoaca just flat laid an egg. First, Matoca came in ill prepared. No way the talent level at Hopewell is that much better than Matoaca. Not that Hopewell is bad, quite the contrary. But, Matoaca is darn good. BIG offensive line, good team speed, and decent athleticism. I think the coaching staff for Hopewell must have had a great game plan, and the Matoaca staff plain blew it.
