Any ideas on hotels in Lexington with a bar or within very close walking distance from the hotel. And any suggestions on a good breakfast restaurant.

Day’s Motor Lodge on Versailles Road. Near plenty of places that you can get a drink (or more if you’re so inclined). About a mile or so from Rupp Arena and the distillery district on Manchester. Location, location, location. It’s a motor lodge, so no pesky steps to worry about and by nighttime, most people who stay there are out like a light. Very reasonable prices.
Hilton downtown or Embassy Suites at Lexington Green
for breakfast Doodles or Winchells.

I'd probably suggest downtown -> Hilton, Hyatt, 21C for a room within walking distance of bars. The AirBnB option is not a bad idea. I guess out in Hamburg they also have Hyatt Place, Courtyard, etc right next to Wild Eggs and Harry's/Malone's if you don't want to be in town but close to the HWY.
If you want a walking distance from downtown breakfast -> Lexington Diner or Doodles although a bunch of places have Sunday brunch these days.
If you are ok driving a couple miles for the best breakfast it's Winchell's.

Hate to break your heart but the Continental Inn is long gone. A travesty I know.
