Plus, over the past ten years, most everyone became bigger ********. You think you are getting to know the characters? Nope. Not sure I understand the recasting of key characters while keeping others. I get the passage of time but I think I'd just handled with makeup or something. The show had way too much momentum to go this route imo.
It's still good but imo lost a bit with the recasting
It's just that you can age up a 50 yo to 70 easier than a 16 to 26 or 2 to 6. This was one of the big concerns going into the show. The actresses were playing younger and nicer versions of characters that grow up to be pretty petty and vengeful. The politics should pick up and then I'd assume war starts in season 2.Not sure I understand the recasting of key characters while keeping others. Who gives a ****?I feel uncomfortable with a non-binary actor playing a woman. I think women should play women. And, non-binary play non-binary. I’ll just have to suck it up and work through it.
I accept your transexuality, Vern. You do you.Who gives a ****?
Dude, don’t check your sarcasm meter at the door. Lighten up.Who gives a ****?
I will inform Dr. Chris Kolb of your hateful anti-trans rhetoric, teach.Don't lump me in with you, Hank.
I can't stand that it isn't released until 9 pm on Sunday night -- because I am an old, employed, married boring person. Can't stand when HBO tries to do night scenes but that episode was tense. Daemon was killing me during the dispute just people watching like he was at the county fair.
One plus with Max, is that new episodes will usually show up around 8:55ish and you can skip the previously on and intro and get right to it a bit early. Also I somehow manage like 5 hrs of sleep a night so 9 pm feels like 7 pm to me.I can't stand that it isn't released until 9 pm on Sunday night -- because I am an old, employed, married boring person.

Just realized my post made me sound like a 90 year old new to tech. "Oh wow, I get to watch this show a few minutes early?!"
This series has been pretty damn great so far. I curse the cheap *** days of HBO when Deadwood and Rome were canceled. Amazing what happens when a show gets the full backing of it's network.
Was this you? lol.
There has been a massive dropoff in the show since the cast change, imo. I hate every character left except Daemon (who himself is pretty damn hatable but at least charming) at this point, when previously I really liked almost every character.
Except that is sticking with the books. The girls didn't just get older. They got more paranoid and more angry. If they didn't get so emotionally heated then they would of taken any one of the 10 chances to avert civil war. Part of the problem is they aren't even worrying about the realm or the small folk... all they are worried about is their rights and title.Imo the most obvious downside to the cast change midseason was the new cast didn't get to study the portrayal of the old cast. Ya I get people change as they get older but they don't totally become different people. Instead now we have two very different takes on the princess and I much preferred the earlier.

Rhaenyra was well known to not have handled child baring well, she got frumpy, and she got extremely short sighted.
The age up was a risk no doubt. It's what most of the fan base was most worried about in season 1. I definitely didn't like it very much last episode but thought it felt more normal this episode. I'm betting the last 2 episodes will have people forgetting the younger versions. LOL.
For instance. Aemond was really awesome this episode. That kid killed that ****. The problem is that we now have a 11 yo kid with the largest dragon on the planet and he doesn't develop like we did growing up. Dude is going to be wayyyy different next episode and even more so in the last 2 episodes.
I can't stress enough that this is setting up the war and isn't the civil war. They are showing all this to explain and make reasonable the later actions.
He was great, that was a powerful scene when he entered the Hall to the throne.Paddy Considine was fantastic in that episode. Each episode is better than the last. House of the Dragon is better than GoT, imo.
Aemond is just excellent casting. Dude looks like a guy you will absolutely hate.
I personally wouldn't go that far, but I was someone who'd watch each episode of GoT 2-3x per week. Dragon is everything I hoped for though. All I wanted was a great companion piece to Thrones. I'm already thinking ahead a few years when I'll be able to rewatch this current series and then GoT right after as a continuation of the GRRM Universe.House of the Dragon is better than GoT, imo.
Better than GOT? That's a bold statement....Paddy Considine was fantastic in that episode. Each episode is better than the last. House of the Dragon is better than GoT, imo.
Yea. Rhaenys in the beginning was awesome to watch. I kept thinking that nobody is stealing this episode from her then about 4 people did. Then when you go back and think about stuff it's even better... LIke..It's odd how each episode is a slow burn, yet so much time passes between each episode to expedite the plot line. I'm paying for HBOMax solely for this show.
As this season has gone on, I can’t help but think about DSmith’s doom and gloom thread where he linked an article a month before the show began complaining that House of the Dragon was woke. Of course leading to people saying, “guess I won’t watch now. Oh well, go woke go broke.”
Hopefully the ones who blindly listened to a dumb headline didn’t let that stop them from watching this great show. Basically, make your own decisions and don’t allow headlines to make them for you.
