In just 5 days my house went from just poured basement walls to now being ready for roof sheathing to go on tomorrow. Amish crew is fast and awesome! They will be putting the roofing materials on next week. I got two quotes: asphalt shingles vs. metal roof. My wife and I are lost at what to do.

The shingles quote was just a few hundred dollars less than the metal roof. I know that the metal roof has a longer warranty, but what else does it really have over shingles? Is it worth it to go with the metal over shingles? I have to make my order by Saturday.

Both have their pros and cons, but at the end of the day, the big difference is just choice in style. Some people like the look of the metal roof, some don't, some mix and do a combo of both.

If you get a metal roof be sure to install snow birds or rails. They'll jack up the cost of the roof by a little, but you definitely don't want to go without.

See a lot of people cutting the life of asphalt short in favor of metal. Brother installed his own and not sorry of the choice. In Fla and roof takes a beating with storms and hail.

Just something to think about, there are hundreds/thousands of holes in metal roofing when it is done. The screws are made to seal it, but if any of them are installed incorrectly, or the washers degrade, then it will leak.
