I think its stupid that you only get 2 challenges for a game. If you are right, you should not be limited.
You nailed it. You should retain a challenge as long as you keep being right. Why the hell should Iowa--or any other team--be further penalized because the refs continue to make bad calls? That's just ridiculous.

And, of course, in the days before challenges, those two incorrect calls would have cost Iowa the win and allowed Florida to move on because of the refs' incompetence.

Same guy made both calls. Neither should have been a challenge. They were slam dunks. He was ducking and already turned away before the florida guy touched it last on the first one. Literally couldn't see it but he assumed and made the (wrong) call anyways. The second one was just a bad call. You know florida fans think they got hosed in that game by the refs? Lol.

First one was ridiculous that another ref didn't come in and fix it. The only reason that ball got sent right at the ref's face was because the Florida player hit it that way. Second one is one that I could see being an in game miss as it happened so fast and the ball didn't change direction.

We lose that game if either of those calls aren't overturned. And it is absolutely dumb that we get penalized by referee incompetence if we successfully challenge twice and can no longer challenge the rest of the game. The challenge is a last ditch effort to overrule the potential for corruption in referees and limiting it is dumb.

Use of the challenges in that game! Both were somewhat close, at least at full speed anyway. And he nailed the challenge call on both of them.

They were huge in the Hawks being able to just get by Florida.
The first one wasn't close at all. It was pathetic the one who didn't see it made the call with no help

There was another opportunity for a challenge the play when the Florida player threw it off Kombs (who was out of bounds) and Florida was rewarded the ball. The challenge rule should always be unlimited challenges until you get one wrong.

Heard the IA video guy made the call to challenge the second one.
Good teamwork goes beyond players and coaches...
What a huge responsibility for some kid, I'm guessing, who happens to be good with video? Probably a little more nuanced than that but yeah, great teamwork.

Too late to nominate Video Guy for MVP?

Btw, did the automatic review of out-of-bound plays under 2 minutes disappear with the ability for the very limited coaches challenges?

I'm thinking that's right and if so what kind of trade-off is that? Not being able to challenge a late o-o-b for lack of a challenge is ridiculous.

Maybe it shouldn't come as a surprise what residents of Florida believe. And maybe somebody should point out that the calls were reviewed and the evidence showed the original calls were wrong. You don't have to like the fact that the sun rises in the East, but that doesn't change the fact . . . not even in Florida.

BTW: Why would a #1 seed from the mighty SEC need excuses after facing a lowly #9 seed from the little ol' Big Ten?

The automatic review must still exist at least for some things. The Referees literally stopped the game with 4 seconds left to review how much time was on the clock. Talk about a game buster. Gave Florida time to set up a play. They need to change that rule in the last minute of the game, and instead of stopping the clock after a made shot, the clock should continue to run unless there is a foul or a time out.
