How about this as an OC opponent for PSU football?

Since the AD is shying away from Power 4 teams in the next few years, how about PSU trying to schedule James Madison University to come to PSU? They are a credible Group of 5 program. Additionally, JMU being in PSU's DMV recruiting area , there would be eyeballs on the TV.
I would much rather see PSU play them ir even Liberty University instead of Villanova.

What's is the price difference between the two schools for a game?

Isn't the purpose of scheduling the group of 5 teams to get an easy win? Why would you want to schedule a good group of 5 team? If you are going to do that, then I think they should just schedule a bad Power 4 team.

JMU is in Harrisonburg, VA (in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains 2.5 hours SW of Washington, DC). It isn't in the "DMV" which is an acronym for DC and the VA and MD suburbs of DC.

I wouldn’t want any of the PSU revenue going to help Liberty. Just my opinion. I’d rather put Temple back on the schedule than do that.

We did play Auburn and West Virginia also. We can't help that they weren't that good when we played them.
When's the last time WVU was good though?
Auburn--yeah, fair, no one thought they'd be dumb enough to hire someone like Harsin plus they're an SEC program so there's credit in that alone
WVU seemed more like "some older fans will believe this is us trying to schedule good teams so they'll be happy"

I'd rather play JMU than Nevada or Nova but it's really not that much of a step forward. If we win, we were still expected to. If we lose, it's a nightmare. Kind of like scheduling Pitt which is also pointless unless they stop requesting a return trip.

Both were better than JMU especially the first year we played WVU….they won 9 games.
Now let's break down those wins--who did they beat that suggests they were a good team. They weren't. They avoided playing everyone decent in the Big XII (talk about luck) and beat no one with a pulse. Can we stop pretending win-total means anything. Analyze it.

I doubt the AD will schedule a bad Power 4 school. No biggie, I won't be attending any of those upcoming OOC games. I'll either attend a PSU road game or an SEC game. This month we will be attending Ole Miss game vs Tulane. One of our grandaughters is a Freshman at Ole Miss.

Is it really? I believe it to be Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. The entirety of each state, not just the areas close to or surrounding D.C.

Depending on who you talk to, it means both. Those who live closer to DC think that the D stands for them those who live further away and on the eastern shore of Maryland or Delaware think it’s for them. I would include JMU as part of the area either way. Even though 81 traffic is terrible. It’s not that far from Northern Virginia and they get most of their players from the area so while we might not be recruiting specifically against them, the visibility is there.

Nope, "The DMV" is an acronym for the DC Metro Area - "Dc Md Va". City of Washington, DC and its MD and VA suburbs.

JMU is twice as close to Charlottesville (65 miles) as it is to DC (135 miles). It is not considered part of "NoVA" or the DC Metro Area.

JMU is learning tonight about overtly corrupt ACC officiating.

That said, I wouldn’t schedule them if PSU is looking for cupcakes.

JMU QB play is awful.

Michael Scott from Dallastown gets his first touch on the punt return. Maybe he’ll take a jet sweep to the house to win this.

And can we stop putting down every team that has success simply by saying they didn’t play anyone? Good lord, if all these teams were as bad as some of you say, then almost every team in the nation should be 11–1.

Well I guess we can agree to disagree on the coverage area.

Again, look at their schedule that year and tell me who was the best team they beat...

Their QB play is terrible. Sluka doesn't pass, and they bring in Barnett III on 3rd down to attempt passes at which time in the 2nd half Louisville just let their DL rush the passer. Louisville stripped Barnett in the end zone and got a TD. When Sluka was in in 2nd half Louisville loaded the box and dared him to throw. Nada, zero, zilch. JMU's QB situation is shaky.

You would be the only one to ‘prefer’ them ha
When I wrote that I didn't think of it that way...
Also I do not think I've ever had a bad experience at a DMV, in either of the two states I've lived. I've also probably just jinxed myself.

Agreed but many of the fans are in the DC MD VA Metro area.
