You guys speak of a trump cult.

The cult I see are the people who say they would vote for Biden again. I simply ask why and do you know who they start talking about?

Switching brands

Perdue bagged chicken 3 bucks cheaper than Tyson
Aunt Millie’s bread a couple bucks cheaper than Sara Lee bread

Kroger also has really good digital coupons and weekly deals
Several of Kroger's store brands and Kirkland at Costco are top notch imho.

We'd been buying Kirkland boneless chicken at $2.99/lb but it's gone up about .20 cents. Still cheaper or as cheap as Tyson's or Purdue's sale prices but tastes even better.
Great Value (Walmart) Oreos taste exactly the same as the name brand. Most stuff normally tastes different, sometimes better, sometimes worse, but the knockoff Oreos have legitimately the same taste.

Kirkland boneless chicken at Costco is up to $3.49/lb now, up .50/lb. Bought it anyway because as I said, it tastes much better than the others. Smallest bag I could find was a little over 6 lbs at the Florence store for $21.57.

FWIW.. all the High-yield Savings Accounts have been raising their interest rates faster than they removed them a few years ago. Ally's raised it about 4 -5 times in the last few months, from 0.5% to 1.25%.. the latest raise coming this week. It's not a lot, but every $10,000 you have in one of these accounts should get you like $10-15/month.. And, if the rates continue to go up and hit the low 2's.. you could be looking at some nice side money if you put your savings in there.
Ha ha, Ally raised it again.

Your Online Savings Account rate is increasing from 1.40% to 1.60% Annual Percentage Yield (APY) on all balance tiers. Your new APY goes into effect on 08/05/2022, and will appear in your account on 08/06/2022.

Yep, saw the email also! These emails are up there with "your package has arrived".

Hoping the interest rate gets back up to the low 2's

Same here.

I've laddered several CDs through my credit union. Currently on 6-month intervals. With Ally, I only have one locked in through March, 2023. As previously stated in earlier post, Ally robo account has been a huge disappointment.

Years ago, I read on the old SmartMoney and Kiplinger mags it's best to monitor lending rates and then try locking near the tops. Continue laddering maturities. Sweet spot seems to be 18-24 month maturities.

Money market accounts should rise as well. Huge difference from late-80s/early 90s when 5% passbook and 10% CDs were the norm. Always maintain a decent cash cushion. Love my stocks and bonds, but like old saying goes, "cash is king".

Good info. Unfortunately this will only be in the savings for 6 to 12 months and then it'll be a down payment on a house. There's not a ton in there, but it's enough for a night out once a month!

I'm not dealing with it very well at all. Especially with the f**king corrupt, incompetent ******** who caused it now pushing yet another trillion dollar spending bill to "fix it".

Everything has gone to **** and it continues to get worse.
Yep, it all started in 2017. This is what you get with back-to-back morons in the White House.

People really need to look into monetary policy from a perspective outside the Keysians.

The economist I follow predicted all this with the rapid increase of money supply as soon as Biden took office.

Inflation leveled off in 2017 after a sharp increase at the end of obama.

I hope I don't need to show you an inflation chart from 2021 on... It's been kinda bad and it isn't stopping anytime soon.

I only care about my everyday life. The cost of everything skyrocketed the day Trump took office. Gas, groceries, lumber, etc. … all the things that matter to most of us. Then consider all the money we gave to the undeserving people in 2020. The f’ing with the China tariffs that nearly destroyed the company I work for. I could go on and on. Biden is just another moron taking over for the previous moron. All politicians suck.

Give this a watch. Dude lays it out pretty well. It's a good 1000ft view of what is going on.
