Since most of the local posters live to the North of me, how bad have these storms from the north been? They look nasty on Radar.

Sorry Edgy for the non-football related thread.

Well the rain and wind were very impressive but in short bursts, the lightning was extremely impressive, lost power and internet for a few.

Living in Diamond / Coal City for the past 10 years (or so) has made me a little gun-shy of bad weather.

Power out in my part of Plainfield for about 4 hours. Ton of rain too!

My deck swing blew over, probably 200+ lbs [I thought I had nailed it down]. And numerous downed limbs. Saw a power pole on Meachum, south of Lake Park that was snapped in half. Power out at that intersection.

Came home to water in my basement last night after being gone all day. Supposedly power was out for 5 hours. Carpet is soaked and I’m pissed.

We escaped the worst of it in Lockport. Got some wind but not very damaging and not nearly as much rain as surrounding areas. I was at my dad's house in Joliet when it blew in. It was quite windy there and a lot of rain. The power blinked off then back on several times before finally going out and staying out. It was small area outage and homes just a couple blocks away had power. When I called him this morning he said it came back on at 3:00 AM. So, a little more than a 12 hour outage.

Hey greatgig 13. Have you found the source of the water yet ? I've been in the concrete industry for 40 years with a specialty in basements. If you are still looking for answers I may be able to help, no charge. I could maybe send you my email and you could get me a phone number and we could talk. Not looking to break any posting rules, just help you out

Dude that’s awesome. I know what basement water issues are like having flooded 2 times while living in Chicago. Supposedly 100 year storms lol.
I bought a back up called Sump Pro after the 2nd time and never had another issue. Your a good guy to help someone in need. I hope you hear from him.

I appreciate the offer. We think it's coming from either a crack in our floor or the corner of the foundation. We have a side of the house with a low spot that pools after rain and we're thinking it's going down the side of the foundation and finding it's way in. The ground is so damn saturated from all the rain. I'm spending today tearing out the carpet. Restoration guy quoted $2K to remove carpet and put in air movers. I don't think so. I'll do it myself and bought a good fan at Home Depot. Sorry to bore the board with house woes. Just wanted to respond to @forlouann.

Kind of funny we had storms like this on June 30th. I remember storms that were worse on a June 30th maybe 10 or 12 years ago. If my memory is correct it happened on a Friday night. Knocked our power out for over 24 hours. Lots and lots of trees down and lots without power.
