Regression. Loss of flexibility to shoot, loss of confidence to do anything, changing lineup every 3 seconds now have zero identity except that of a team that cant shoot, at all, and an offense people adjusted to and we just spin the tires and stand around. It was our own coach that told everybody how great of a shot making team we have so many shot makers

Simplistic answers won't do. This is the worst mid-season to end of season collapse I can remember at WVU.
We went from holy **** glory by mid-season to oh, **** disgrace in the final half of the season.
I know college basketball has become a helter shelter game. But WVU is SO out of it in every category. It's like Dr. Jekyll played a half-season and Mr. Hyde played a half-season.

I wonder if Huggins' post-game comments after the ISU win has had any impact on the team. After beating them by 15 and shutting down projected lottery pick Halliburton, Huggins comes out and just talks **** about the play the entire post-game. Maybe the players' response was "**** you Huggy Bear. We go out and bust our *** for you and all you do is go out and **** talk us publicly?"

That is a possibility! I have seen kids shut down on a high school coach before because they got tired of being screamed at and cussed at every day! Literally dropping passes in the end zone and watching guys run in for a touch down! So that may be the case! It is obvious we have issues right now that we’re not there earlier!

The issues have always been there. Teams now know how to defend us.

Let's look at our bread and butter play. A guard dribbles for umpteen seconds until a big flashes to the free throw extended. He receives the pass and then tries to pass in some way down to a big on the block. The big will shoot it every time while 3 or 4 crash down for the almost inevitable miss rebound.

This play was created by Huggins because of the inability of our guards to make the said pass. It shortens the pass, leading to less turnovers, but adds an extra step in the process.

Teams now have it figured out. The big on the free throw line isn't a threat to shoot. Sink down to defend the pass. Jermaine Haley isn't a threat to shoot because he won't shoot anything except layups so his man can help, too. Any ball that somehow gets back to a guard won't be hard to defend because that guard hasn't moved since the entry pass. If for some reason the entry pass can't be made, there will never be a play set up for a guard to get an open look. He will have to create his own shot with only a few seconds on the shot clock at best.

There is our offense and how to defend it in a nutshell.

The one thing we couldn't do today we did - play our bigs at the same time. Manik is Kevin Pittsnoggle x2 - average at best in the post and deadly on the perimeter. We let him have wide open looks all day because the big couldn't get there in time or he was guarded by someone 6 inches shorter than he. Just his presence on the floor killed us, not just by the shots he got.

Huggins says the lack of guard play kills us. I disagree. The lack of guard development has killed us. To expect some magical change to happen when 2/3 of your best shooters have sat the bench for 3 quarters of the year is farcical thinking.

This year is basically shot. Huggins needs to go back to the drawing board in the off-season and create some changes to open up the offense - something he hasn't done in - well, forever. If he doesn't, Rod Thorn may not have long to wait before another name is enshrined in the Coliseum.

Not correct.
2001 lost final 4 games
2002 final 20 games 2-18
2003 final 10 games finished 2-8
2004 final 12 games 5-7
2006 final 12 games 5-7
2012 final 16 games 6-10
2013 Final 10 games 2-8
2014 final 10 games 3-7
2015 final 14 games 7-7 (18-3 to start)
2020 they are 3-7 in last 10 games, 1-6 in the past 7

Team isn't as good as we were sold. Players aren't as team as we were sold. And Huggs isn't the coach we were sold. Mediocre is the Mountaineer motto.

WVU is into the tournament.

The question becomes was Huggins comfortable with where the team was or does he feel like they need some motivation...

These games right now don't matter...
If...

WVU makes a run.

They finished the season in 2016 red hot and were knocked off in Round 1.

Would you rather have that than lose these games and make a run

What makes you think WVU was efficient?

According to Huggs on the coach's show it's all because they have to play road games and have classes in the morning, guess we're the only ones. Yeah its worse for us than the rest of the big 12 but this nonsense didnt start last week. He made it sound like we have zero chance to ever win if were in big 12 because of road games so i guess he wants to wait for an opening in the A-10? He was in full excuses mode.

80% of your reply is misquoted and made up.

Actually for those of us who can face reality...777 is correct in his observation. We have of course entered the usual excuse zone
