How close was it?

I ran some scenarios, and it is shocking how close it could've been based off the possible outcomes. Yes, you could say we over-performed, but I wouldn't...we didn't get our 10 champs.

-Troy not snatching victory from the jaws of defeat and doubling up Vrob. +1.5 *terrible draw, if he were on the bottom side, his tournament could've went much different.
-Dee just wrestling to seed, no bonus. +13
-Facundo wrestling to seed, no bonus. +5
-Casey getting it done against Van Ness. +11
-team point penalties. +2

Penn State losing Van Ness's points with a quarterfinal defeat. -6

That has it at 175.5 to 165.5, which is super, super uncomfortable for Cael.

Now, I know this is an absolute in best case scenarios for us. But it doesn't include much bad case scenario for PSU.

So, say we got some better draws and PSU got some worse draws...and we get some more bonus. Son, it would've been a team race!

Penn St doesn't get bad draws @Wrestleknownothing will back me up on this. And I bet DT's attitude is we dont get bad draws. We got to be ready to beat the next guy in the bracket. SVN was a good draw for CS . That's the draw you want to beat PSU, knock them out before the finals and it was so close.

I’m not sure how to argue this, because I agree for the most part.

But, I’m sure @Wrestleknownothing can build a chart that has some kind of rating assigned to each loss? He can probably do the same thing with how hard each win was? I mean he has numbers for dominance in hodge consideration?

I mean, in the interest of statistical science, surely knownothing has a path difficulty statistic?

I really think it would be useful to know a number of difficulty placed on each path. A pro with your abilities could probably knock that out during a breakfast muffin!

I think this is a fallacy, and I say it wearing orange glasses. If you are gonna give OSU a near perfect possible outcome total, you have to do the same for PSU. I disagree it doesn't change much for PSU. It flips 157, 184 and 149 to PSU.

I didn't give us perfect scenarios. I did give us best case scenario's from the event. Also, after breaking the scoring record, that's all they get.

I'm on the side of nothing is static. You can't change results from one and not the others. Nothing stays the same everywhere else if you change other results.

PSU set a record and they had 2 guys upset in the finals..........so they could have scored more points as well. With that said the gap is closing. Have watched a few shows on Flo Wrestling and those guys think OSU has a decent shot next year depending on Ross at HWT and if we get a solid transfer at 184. They aren't high on Ryder. They may not know much about his injury. They also said the Rainey twins are really good.

Pyles is actually really high on Ryder and picked him to AA in his bracket even after seeing what was going on with his shoulder. They actually seem pretty high on Ryder’s potential if he can get healthy.

NCAA wrestling is the hardest sport there is (imo.) it’s even harder when an injury takes away some of your dimensions. I equate what Ryder was going through would be similar to a strong safety not having an ACL.

He had to really plan his positioning and attacks to minimize risk. He had to have the mental ability to know what was coming, then the athletic ability to get to the right spot before the “action” was going to happen.

Any idea when his injury happened? He was pretty offensive and impressive during the All Star Dual but wasn’t much after that. Was it a long time injury that continue to get aggravated? Did it happen in a dual or practice. Again, for all the Doctors on here, I’m not looking for a diagnosis or any HIPAA info just curious when he injured it.
