Looking at the success of B1G teams in the 1st and 2nd rounds, it might a appear that the BIG was extremely good this year and NU was not that bad. Purdue beat Nova by a mile, the osu looked very good, UM and MSU were superb, MD did fine, Io_A showed well, Minny rocked and Wiscy flopped. In NIT Indiana is solid. How did we fare against those teams? Lost to MU and IU by 2 pts, the disaster at Io_a, beat the osu late by 18, and so forth. We were better than alot of people in the tourneys, but alas, we have so far to go. Hope it can be done.

Of course it can be done. Northwestern just has to be a middle of the pack B1G team to make it back. Will it be next year? Probably not.

Wish we had Ash last year and this year.

Two more good recruiting classes and development of what we have would imo make us a decent middle of the pack B10 team.

Next year will likely be horrible on the W-L scale. The year after could be decent IF players develop.

Pretty far.
Farther than in CCC’s first season. But just a few years after his first season...

We are striving to be be a decent middle of the pack B10 team. That in itself is the issue. We all know CCC has higher goals than middle of the pack. The next two recruiting classes will define the expectations of the program under CCC. If by some miracle we land one of Baldwin, Christie or Caleb F. From Indiana, we would expect top 3 in B10. A bad year becomes middle of the pack.

I would be thrilled if our bad years are 500 in the B10. Can it be done? Who knows, history would say no, but they keep a win loss record for a reason.

Unfortunately, barring some unknown talent joining the team this off-season, next year will be rough. I think most will live with that and CCC if they see our underclassman developing into B10 level players. If so, NU will surprise with a few upsets. I expect us to lose a few as well unexpectedly in the OOC. The vultures will circle, but everyone should focus more on development next season. You can get a good recruiting class if they see your underclassman can play.

If we play in the B1G, then it only matters how we do comparatively. Unless we move to the Ivy, doesn’t matter if we would have emerged champs and danced.
