At least they won. Out played and out coached for the most part, they won. Good start for the ex CARDS and wish them the best from this time forward.

Yes a win is a win is a win

However this was posed to be a blowout and practice for Clemson.

Many of us were expecting to see 2nd and 3rd stringers in the late 3rd/4th quarter.

The schedule sets up for 11-1/12-0 and they played like a 6-6 team.

Inexcusable.

Winning is never a dissapointment, however expectations are going to be way lowered.

Go Cards !

I doubt the Cards drop. They won the game at a neutral site against a B1G team. They probably should drop some, but it doesn't matter if the offensive line doesn't improve. All those false starts was just painful to watch. I lost count after 7. Pure lack of discipline and execution.

Opening games are usually rough to watch. This one was rougher than usual.

No clue how far they actually drop but That is not a top 25 team. D1 college teams are not that undisciplined. Freak talent at QB will get them some wins but if they continue to play like that they will get smoked in the ACC. I have never watched a team with that lack of discipline and make such stupid mistakes in my entire life. Not even high school teams make those stupid mistakes.

Original prediction Louisville 49 Purdue 34, If we had scored the two that we lost on the one yard line the early guess would have been close. The team played well for the first game but left room to improve. Next Saturday it begins to heal and then it wins over Clemson which begins the real season. KENMAC

The 2 red zone fumbles left 12 points on the field. Then going for 2 (twice) left even more. Kicking field goals instead of finishing off drives with touchdowns left even more points on the field. Take away the pick 6 and the Cards got 28 out of the offense when it should have been around 50.

The defense played about as well as we could have hoped for just because Jeff Brohm is a great offensive minded coach and unlike the UofL offense, his didn't constantly shoot itself in the foot with stupid false start penalties.

It's a win. In the end that is what matters most. Winning ugly is better than losing pretty.

The guys need to show more discipline. Nice to see the Cards win but I think the scares many of us is that we saw many of the same mistakes last night that haunted the Cards in their last 3 or 4 games of the season last year.

I hope most of what we saw last night was first game jitters and an opponent or coach that knows Petrino's system well.

A lot of positive to take away from the game last night.

On to the next one.

Louisville not going to drop BUT they didn't play like a Top 25 Team...to put it in context...USC at home didn't play like a Top 5 Team against Western Michigan..they will not drop either.

The backup Center. Hopefully though it was just opening game jitters.
Without googling, do you know who that guy is?

My point is there aren't obvious solutions to some of these "problems" despite what fans think. Last season, it was obvious that the O-line coach needed to be replaced. We'll see...

Yesterday, we had trouble scoring on a really short field, inside the five yard line. (That of course affects how well we execute a two-point conversion.) And I recall that being a carryover from last year.

This team doesn't execute long drives (10+ plays) with fluidity, incl. the END of drives. Too much herky-jerky stuff going on between Lamar and the sidelines. I know WHO that involves, I just don't know who's responsible for it or how to fix it. Lamar's still looking at the sidelines with under 10 seconds on the play clock too many times. And that also seems to be correlated with the O-line false starts...

Their were a number of teams that didn't play well either but the problems with the false starts, no other games I saw this weekend had the same problem and knowing this is a holdover from last year -or longer, let me ask a question, Is Lamar's voice not easily heard as he is very soft spoken ? Serious Thoughts on the subject.

That's the problem. 2 years ago at NC State, BP was so frustrated by the play of Junior Center Tobiah Hughley he replaced him with TC Klusman for one series and it was complete disaster. The Nose Tackle went around Klusman untouched on 3 straight plays resulting in two sacks and a TFL. Hughley quickly returned to commit more false starts.

It's just not 'plug and play' here on the Offensive line. It's a shame because if it were we'd probably be looking at having the only back to back Heisman winner besides Archie Griffin.

On a side note: as bad as our Line looked last night, there is some young talent there that will get better as they play together. They better hurry though. A rugged Clemson defense is 2 weeks away.

Michigan #17 lost as well. Just depends on how teams around us did. Va Tech or West Virginia will move up.

Oh woe is me. The season must be over. Since we are undefeated what bowl game will we be going to and what are we going to do for the rest of the season since our season is over? Oh, and will we be in the playoffs since we are undefeated. I guess it will be us, Alabama, Clemson and tOSU. But, WTH what do I know. Also, I wonder if the anti Bobby folks will come back after we win a game "the way they think we should" and congratulate him and the team?

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

I like how this wouldn't even be a thread if we didn't fumble 2 td's away inside the 5 yard line. Would've been a blowout from the beginning.

Louisville OWNED them in yardage and less turnovers. The only thing that kept Purdue in the game were the penalties and the 2 fumbles.

Look what happened when we went up 32-28. From then on it was stop after stop from our defense.

Yeah the score says we barely won, but man wonder what everyone would be saying if it were 49-28.

If we score 3 more TD's instead of 3 FG's, it 61-28...And if we kick the two PAT's instead of going for two TPC's, it's 63-28...See has easy that was...Louisville Dominated ALL aspects of the game...Good (score and yardage), and Bad (mistakes and penalties)...Now, they need to learn how to be a consistant good team without comitting all the bad results!!!

Love reading espn stressing how "Louisville barely beat Purdue" at every oppurtunity without mentioning the easily correctable mistakes that kept it from being a blowout or the fact that the opposition's coach knows Petrino better than anyone. I do recall a certain team "Barely beating" Troy in their 2nd game last year. I think it turned out pretty good for that particular team.

This Louisville team has no business being ranked.
Sheer nonsense. Unbelievable how so many let emotions cloud their perspective. There are literally hundreds of examples over the years of inconsistency with highly ranked teams during week one. Clemson struggled mightily last year against Troy St. The Cards look more like a ranked team over several teams ranked. Defense forced 4 turnovers and had 4 sacks. Offense had over 500 yards and 35 points despite the two fumbles at the 1 yard line. Louisville is a team other coaches would bypass playing if they can.
