How far does UofL drop ?

Our offense was unstoppable. We gained more yards than most college teams opening up with cupcakes, and this was in spite of Robbie Bell and Mecton discovering Div 1 speed at gametime. Please listen to Petrino talking about Bell still calling out blocking signals when Lamar asked for the ball and learn why he believes it is utterly and ridiculously correctable. A very inspired Purdue team with our second-favorite coach could very well have won that game had our depth on the D line and the secondary not come up huge in the 4th quarter. Both factors were complete and very rewarding surprises.
Speaking of surprises, out fans are sure not very comfortable with any at all. We overcame the worst surprises and showed huge grit and great character coming back for the lead, then shutting them down - bad - in the end. I see a cup just about ready to fill dam near all the way up, personally, all based on factors which are obvious.

I said well before week 1 that Louisville would be lucky to win 7 games. My thoughts about them not being worthy of a ranking were confirmed, not established, by the Purdue game. The last 3 games of the 2016 season were no fluke. I hate it, but it is what it is. Luckily, if they get their **** together, this could be a good team. We'll see if they gather themselves or flounder through this season like they did at the end of last season.
7 games is definitely low. Lucky to win 7 games would mean both Lamar and likely Pass go down with injury. The teams on our schedule other than UNC, NC State, FSU, and Clemson are all significantly worse than the cards. UNC and NC State are slightly worse to even. FSU and Clemson are more talented. We should win 9 games this year minimum or the coaching staff will be on the hot seat IMO.

Personally, after last year, I refuse to make a prediction on this team. I'm just gonna watch, and hopefully enjoy, every game!!
Team got humbled pretty good last month of last year and I'm not sure a bounce back is a light switch kind of thing.
I think expectations are a little high most years, and maybe the ranking is part of the issue. Program has national respect, to an extent.
Winning 7, or 8 games is not easy for a program like Louisville. There are a number of toss-up games, and a few games against top shelf teams too. Was proven last week it is not easy to beat teams as a large fav either.
I'm not sure the team warrants a ranking but we'll find out soon enough.
