You would think Coyotes would really keep their numbers down, but evidently not .
Too much else to eat in Kentucky. A rabbit or bird is much easier to eat opposed a possum wearing armor. Never tried to tear it off, but would imagine that shell would be like trying to bite through a hard shell turtle.

I've only seen roadkill. I really thought it was a eastern migratory thing as I live 30 miles from the Mississippi River and they seem more common in Missouri.

They've been pushing northward for a long time.

I saw my first one seven years ago.

I have seen one In Northern Alabama around ten years ago while traveling to Scottsboro, AL. It was kind of weird to actually see one. I had always thought they were just in Texas and further southwest.

Haven't seen one here but I had some good times 40 years ago at the Lost Armadillo Saloon in Lexington.
