How good is Libertyville?

Good. Not enough gets made of their defense which is very talented. Not overly big but very athletic.

Lees has help. Two very good receivers and a bowling ball type full back.

He's much improved at throwing the ball so teams cannot solely key on him just running. He may be the best player they've ever had at that school in football and that says a lot considering their history.

My only concern is have they been tested? The NSC was way down this year and their non-con wasn't great. We shall see.

The weak schedule is definitely a question mark for lville, but the counter-argument would be that most of these kids were the leaders on last year's team that had a successful playoff run to the semi-finals. As Newt mentioned, while Lees gets all the headlines, the defense has quietly shut down some pretty good players over the course of the season. Sorenson from Stevenson (miami oh commit), Carollo LF (D1 offer at QB), Crump from Warren (9 carries 36 yards), and Klett from LZ (14 carries for 64 yds).

D is indeed good D line is particular. Stop Lees (easier said than done) and you win. Simple as that and sorry Newt I'd rather make him sit in the pocket and take my chances as a thrower

Personal matters of players (Buncic) are verboten here.
After Lees burned Stevenson a couple of times on the ground they pretty much stopped rushing him on pass plays. From watching that game, when Lees broke his long runs, it wasn't like he is shifty or juked anyone out, he makes it look like the defense is standing still. He reminds me of that QB from LWE a few years ago who would take over a game, I saw him do it vs. Carmel. Should be an exciting playoffs.

Not sure how you keep a kid like Lees in the pocket. Not even Cary last year in the semis could do it.

Lees is the fastest player I've seen on turf since seeing T Fuessel.

Potential match-up with LWE in the second round of the playoffs is intriguing. LWE can play some defense.

If they can both advance it looks like a VERY intriging game, I agee. Libertyville has made some pretty good D's look average.

Lees had 12 yards on 17 carries last year against CG. I am sure that Lees didn't have the same talent around him last year that he does this year, but they did a pretty good job shutting him down last year, Newt.

Lees and his ability to read a defense makes them tough to stop. Seems like the coach gives him multiple plays to audible to each snap based on what he sees. Watched them twice this year (against Stevenson and Lake Zurich) and it felt like he always made the right play call. For example Lake Zurich was covering the slot receivers 12 yards off so he kept checking to a quick pop pass to them which gained 10-15 yards a play. This combined with their tough D and the fact that Lees can break off a long TD run in a flash will make them a very tough out. I just don't see where the overrated talk comes from just because their schedule was a bit down this year.

CG defense last year was awesome and overlooked IMO, it took an excellent PC offense to move the ball on them. Possibly the best team to not win a championship.

CG - agree the CG D forced him to pass -and did stop him. The LWE 2nd rd. should be fun and will be the 1st test for a Libertyville this yr. NSC IMO was way down this yr.
