He had offers from Tennessee, Nebraska and UL (among others).
Maybe we can use him as a RB or TE(ok not serious)but if he has that type of speed:cool2:A bit raw right now, but to be expected. Incredible athlete, terrific size. 6'6, 230# (he's a redshirt freshman, I think we can fully expect him to grow, possibly up to 250# going into next year). Justin Rowland says the kid runs a 4.45 forty, which is insane for that size. Should offer some terrific explosiveness, and speed off the edges.
Posted in another thread that he has similar size and speed when compared to Florida's Alex McCallister.
That is exactly who I thought of when I saw Bonner on tape. McCallister absolutely destroyed our Tackles.
UK didn't sign him. Just a commitment. We'll know come early Feb.
Don't we have a December signing day for JUCOS?
Agreed...from all appearances, he is plan B for Tennessee and if their big DE commit (Kongbo) were to decommit as there is some scuttlebutt he might...Bonner would be a guy they may try to fall back upon as signing day approaches.UK didn't sign him. Just a commitment. We'll know come early Feb.

So it is good to have Bonner in the fold as of now...but as with many of our higher rated kids not coming in January...we have to fend off some teams to keep them down the stretch.
I just hope we know how to coach him! I am sorry to be a downer but after what I witnessed this year with the coaching staff I have lost all faith and prior to last season I WAS all-in! But the decision not to hire a Special teams coach, the constant shadowing of Dawson by Stoops (whose specialty is supposedly defense) talent was not an issue it was game management and HORRIBLE coaching! I really don't see anything that makes me think it will change either. Stoops is too stubborn and set in his ways and will not allow the coaches we do have to do their job without him hovering over them. Jim McElwain was asked what was Nick Saban's best quality and his answer was he let his assistant coaches coach.3 years of eligibility remaining

Why does it seems like we only get players who have only played the game a year??
Sounds like he has good character, he didn't accept TU or Transfer U's offers.
Think that you're missing the irony by referring to another school as Transfer U in a thread about accepting a transfer. Pick your battles. :boxing:

LOL...... Tenn has a few guys on our board a little higher than him, he's still a nice player though. Tenn also redshirted 2 DE's they are really high on.Sounds like he has good character, he didn't accept TU or Transfer U's offers.
The kid has some natural ability for sure. He should only get better with experience and good coaching.

I didn't mean for it to sound like that. If we miss on a few guys it's possible we try to make a run at him. I think he's raw but has a nice upside.Good. Hopefully Bonner is aware that your team is loaded at his position with players much better than he.

Why does it seems like we only get players who have only played the game a year?? This is not to bash the kid and he may be all SEC before he leaves, but it just seems like we take a lot of these kids and they never crack the rotation. Any one else agree??
So what happened with your future QB Johnson?
Joker wasn't no dumby either.........Well remember this, Saban didn't learn that overnight and let's hope that Stoops looks back at this year and learns something himself. He seems to be a pretty intelligent guy.

IDK. We've got 2 4* freshman on campus and the #2 DT, #31 overall QB committed for next year. Also our O is designed for the QB to run more than normal and Johnson is better in the pocket. Odd though with me saying all of this, he commits to Clemson who runs a similar O than us and they got a 4* QB commit the very next day. Wish he would of stayed but I guess you can't get them all.So what happened with your future QB Johnson?
