How is UofL recruiting so well?

Their class looks very similar to ours with one additional 4* (so far....). But, looking at their commits they have ONE from the state of KY (Bentley). Several from GA and FL and then one or two from a bunch of other states. How does UofL recruit CA, AL, etc.? Doesn't seem like they would have that much of a draw but I'm obviously wrong.

Just a hunch...since Louisville was ranked the entire year....they are in the ACC instead of the C-USA, BIG EAST and AAC to go with players might wanting to play with the Heisman Trophy Winner....again just a hunch.

For Louisville purposes looking to close on 2 OL from Georgia and Alabama...Maybe a NT from Mississippi and a DB from Florida... we will see how it works on one 1 February 2017

I think the California player is a JUCO. That's a whole different ball of wax when it comes to recruiting. Those guys look for a good team they think they can play right away for. Being as he's an OL, there's LOTS of opportunity available there!! ;)

Actually they have a pretty big advantage besides having some ill gained success recently, lots of kids that have a tendency to get in trouble see a lot of advantages to going to a town where jurich reigns. Same with Thug U, where not long ago I read that it took FIVE drug problems to get kicked out while at UK (and Georgia) it only took two. Remember Caffey, the DB the coaches raved about that never played a down here? Also academics and players like the DT that was committed to UK but suddenly somehow qualified but was a Card by then. The player that got his TWELVE YEAR OLD COUSIN pregnant was on their commit list a couple of years ago for quite a while.

In short, just win baby, hell, look at their two coaches and hurtt jump started their recent success.

Rudd was huge to get him to flip from UCLA to Louisville-(And Rudd already signed and here for Spring Practice)...the bigger news is it appears that McNeil is coming back to school and moving back inside to Guard. Looks like McNeil and Kenny Thomas will be the Guards next year-( they were the Starting Guards as Freshmen in 2015) with Rudd and Christian at Tackle...Robbie Bell at Center for 2017

Um, they were one of the hottest teams on the country for a lot if the season and had a guy win the Heisman, take your blue tinted glasses off - it is not hard to see why they have a decent class.

Louisville lost their top three receivers (including TE Hikitini), their starting RB and three starters on their OL (on a pretty average line). The birds have some immediate needs in those areas and their top recruits play those positions. It also doesn't hurt to get a chance to play with Lamar.

Petrino has always been a better coach than a great recruiter. However, this year he is reaping the benefits of being ranked all season with the added benefit of the Heisman trophy. If he continues to add at risk transfers with good recruits he is going to be hard to beat in the ACC.

Let's face it. They were a Top 15 team all season, in the ACC (a good conference), and had the Heisman Trophy winner calling plays. Of course they are going to see recruiting success amidst all of that.

Except FSU and Clemson out-recruit UL by a fair bit each and every year including this one.

They have a QB that just won the Heisman while being coached by one of the best offensive minds in football. They were all over ESPN this year, and run a high powered offense and have a reputation lately of getting guys to the NFL.

That's why kids go to UL.

Juco guys on the line are ALWAYS a crap shoot first year. We had one of the top two or three ranked tackles our of Juco last year offered by bams and okla. He ended up redshirting and moving to guard. Better cross your fingers if penciling him in as a day one starter

Winning makes it OK that U of L athletics (men's major, in particular) are a sewer? OK. I get it.

My point is that if you pick the right recruits, they either don't care they are diving into a sewer, or actually welcome it.

I get the 'play with Lamar' thing, even if it's only for another year. They certainly haven't been a ranked program consistently so it's hard for me to believe their 'tradition' is selling any of these kids. Their nationwide draw has got to be pretty small although improved with ACC membership, presumably. Add in the bad publicity from both Petrino and Pitino - I guess I don't understand why a highly regarded and highly recruited kid would leave CA or the Deep South to play at UofL

These kids will probably never play a down with the fumbling Heisman...too many people think that the problems otis has surrounding the program and with the university actually matter to these kids when in all reality they could care less...they pay attention to what goes on between the lines, facilities and how successful the program is...nothing more, nothing less unless you are serious about something to do with a particular major the university offers...all the strippers, coaches immoral behavior and crooked university leaders matter little..if at all..to these kids...I can imagine that most of the kids Otis recruits would be drawn to that type of thing.

Actually Louisville the past 5 years has finished in the Top 25 four times....most kids that is their frame of reference...Ranked at the end of 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016...In 2015 finished 8-5 with the win over aTm

This year was a split with FSU and Clemson...kind of expect the same next year especially with Clemson basically losing their entire playmaker on offense and outside of their DT their playmaker on Defense. They will still be very talented but inexperienced especially at QB; RB, WR and TE...all gone

For what it's worth, I agree with you. It's not hard to understand why UL is having success in recruiting.

UK had a 7-5 season with a solid bowl, and we are starting to see the payoff recruiting wise, and it should bode well for UK's 2018 recruiting class even more.

Exactly...if UK wins the Gator Bowl-(refuse to call it the Taxslayer) yes in 2017 and 2018 very good classes for the Wildcats

Leavitt was an early enrollee for UK. Had commitable offers from whose who he may never start.

And Louisville had early enrollees that worked out....hit and miss...but would rather have ppl in for Spring than reporting in the Summer

Our high ranked Juco Oline guy was here for Spring last year as well. Just like the top ranked olineman juCo last year that went to bama and was there for spring. Didn't crack the 3 deep and got booted before season. Coin flip at best your guy is a good player next year.

Not really going to argue...just want them to finish well with Chandler and Bateman...apparently the Top two remaining targets for the OL...And if the Coaches like him Jordan Scott the NT and Brian Edwards the DB..."IF" they finish by the Services it will be a Top 20 Class...highest in history

Not an argument. Just pointing out facts, just as 3kidsandme did. BIG problem for UL the last several years tieing Oline success to jucos. If you snag a couple of good OL high school kids to end the class that will. Bode better for future. Still makes next year a crap shoot and more than likely a repeat of your Oline success the last couple years. But hey...at least you have lamar next year. Could be ugly with a lessor QB

Just glad his backup is Juwan Pass....and now have the luxury to Red Shirt incoming 4* QB Malik Cunningham.

Truth be told "IF" Rudd pans out...and we will know soon enough the OL with McNeil being able to move back inside to his more natural Guard position would be a boost.

Not going to miss Hughley...he busted his butt was very limited at Center....interested to see how the bigger Robbie Bell does at that spot

It will definitely be interesting to see how the plugging of holes and new blood plays, out for both of us.

That said, I'd take our Oline over yours every day of the week aND twice on sunday. Been a while since uk fans could say that

I just wish I could get on this forum without hearing about UL unless it's to establish that we beat their *** this year.

Well here is part of your wish, we beat their *** this year.

Man, that felt good, think I will throw it out there again soon. We can't just let it die like Minardi, BP's lies and the other outrageous things that go on there.

Anyone mentioned hurtt, probably the biggest proven recruiting cheater of all time and a TWO TIME NROTY winner (PROVEN cheater at the U, how in hell did he do it at Transfer U?) on here in a long time-------besides me, of course.

Before I die, my wish is that people on this board would stop these penis envy threads about UL. Honestly, why would anyone give a **** about what they're doing? Just beat their *** and shut them up...all that matters.

These threads allow these passive-aggressive UL f's to come on here and stroke their ****. I'm surprised so many UK fans are so blind.

All the publicity they have received the past few years. Players want to 1) play for championships, 2) play for the local favorite, or 3) play where they are discussed.
