Simple question. I get what’s going on and as someone with elderly parents who travel almost every week and seem to always be sick, I wouldn’t want them getting it bc someone went to a large gathering and became a carrier. I don’t think this is the end of civilization, but I put it on the list bc I’m sure someone does.

NO POLITICS IN THIS THREAD PLEASE!

It's not the end of civilization yet. This was only a test run. Next time it will be just as infectious but a million times deadlier.

That was sarcasm btw. I'll give it three months.

I had this conversation last night with someone. My initial guess was in that 60- to 90-day time frame. Part of me feels it could be sooner and another part feels it's not extreme enough.

Honestly....I have no clue.

It just depends. If at some point, I’ll use MLB as an example, test positive for the virus, that will be it for MLB for the season more than likely. I’m gonna say sports may not be back to normal until maybe fall when football starts.

Completely normal? I’d say 6 months plus, depending on how long baseball is postponed. I think “maybe” college football is our soonest chance that people will stop worrying about it and fill the stands, but depending on what happens the next couple months, who knows

Never, it's the end of civilization. Jesus will be here any day now to collect me. My doomsday co-worker told me so and he ain't been wrong in 25 years. :D

Real guess is 6+ months because I think the Olympics are going to be delayed at a minimum while the virus runs its course.

My guess is 3 months. I think the NBA and I think it was NHL will run into late July/August. Mid to late Summer usually a slow month for sports will be crazy filled with NBA and NHL playoffs along with MLB running a season and college football/NFL starting to get ready.

No clue. When Augusta National postpones the Masters, and they play by their own set of rules, that is a bad sign.

2 months, maybe 3. It’s warming up and we’re seeing that this covid strain really dislikes higher temps.

Challenge will be the Fall. Anti-virals for this will be available in limited quantities, we will start building immunity, and we will be closer to a vaccine, but this virus, or a mutated form, will resurface once it cools. Based on what I see as an overreactive society, football could lose the 2nd half of season and basketball start may not happen, depending on our sanity at that point (irregardless of what I’m confident we will see in the mildness of this virus outside of seniors).

I’m kind of a weird positive...if NBA ends up playing a late playoffs, even if it’s short, those guys will want their full time off. This could be a good chance for the league to shorten the schedule permanently with a great built in excuse.

I'm liking the empty arena for the fights today. No filler time.

I think k it's a wait a d see kind of thing. If it's a little less serious than it currently looks, some reasonably effective treatments are, found, and or the virus tails off in the warmer weather as early as 3-4 weeks. The end of flu season all by itself makes this way more manageable.
If, we get a sudden spike that overwhelms our healthcare system and first responders and this thing doesn't tail off in the warmer weather...???

As long as it’s before football fall camp opens. That other stuff doesn’t matter. No football and the whole country may be in flames

All the NFL free agency news today was much needed. At least we had one day with things back to normal within the world of sports.
That trade Houston made didn't seem too normal, but hey what do I know. I agree though, it was nice getting some sports news today, no matter how head-scratching some of it was.

Bill O’Brien making bad decisions as the gm seems pretty normal to me! Haha but on a serious note, I was shocked when I saw the trade. Before the offseason, people were saying there’s no way for the Cardinals to get rid of David Johnson’s contract. Not only did they do that, but they got back one of the best receivers in the league in return without having to give up a first round pick. Straight robbery. Especially in comparison to what Buffalo gave up to get Diggs.

Yeah 4 draft picks. Diggs is good, good enough to be a #1 in Buffalo, but he's not Nuk.

I just hope the Panther organization will make some major changes and pickups during the off season. Panthers really need help at every position . Unfortunately, I think they keep Cam. Time to get a new QB, if there are any available .
